Edge by Brenda Rothert

One bad hit has left the career of young NHL Center Luke Hudson in question. When he arrives for rehab with a minor league team, his injury has robbed him of the edge that made him great.

Team trainer Adella Price's job is to help Luke get back in peak condition. But their one on one sessions shake her resolve to remain unattached. Dell is hands-off to all hockey players, even one as charming and successful as Luke.

As Luke starts to get ahold of his game again, he loses his grip on his heart. Helping Luke get his edge back brings to light what Dell is missing from her life. But those who want them apart are relentless, and with their careers on the line, Luke and Dell must decide if their love is worth risking it all.

I'm not sure why it has taken me so long to read this series and I know it's going to be a series that I will read and re read, Edge is book 3 in the Fire on Ice Series and this is Luke Hudson and Adella Price's story. Luke is struggling to regain his form, an injury has robbed him of the edge and it has sent him back to the minors to try and get him fit and back to the player he was, which was one of the best NHL center's. Adella is the team trainer and it's her job to get him back to his peak, the problem is as he regains his edge he losses his heart. Rules are in place will they risk it all for love. I was hooked from the first page because what's not to love about a hot hockey player falling for the single mum and her child. This story is slow moving and that is what makes it feel like real life because not only are their careers at stake but there is a child involved as well, a very special child who you can't help falling in love with. This book will make you laugh and it will make you cry and it will leave you wanting more from The Fire on Ice Series. Great Read Brenda Rothert

FYI, this is also my Amazon review (and will be posted at B&N, as well). I received a complimentary copy for review purposes, but I would gladly have paid for this book! This story was fantastic from the first page to the last! I knew, when Captive ended that I wanted a story for Luke. I also knew it would be great for him to step into a relationship with a woman who had a child. Boy, am I glad I was right on both counts! I had several moments when I literally laughed out loud, tears were shed, and times when my blood pumped in my veins, either from the insanely hot chemistry between Luke and Dell or from instances of excitement. If you love Brenda's work, you will be thrilled with this book. It's my personal favorite thus far, and that's saying a lot, because I can't stop praising Bound or Captive and I adored The Complete Now Series. I can never say this enough, if I love the characters in a book, I will love the book. Everything else can be crap and I'll still like it. This book has so much more to offer - great plot, details that will make you feel as if you're there, insanely hot sex scenes - but the characters are phenomenal. Luke is more polished where Ryke and Ben (my previous faves) were not. He can be suave like Cole and down and dirty like Ryke or Ben. And he can do it all in the span of a paragraph or so without it seeming out of character. He's strong and soft, sweet and naughty, smart and funny and just downright sexy. And Dell, she's rough around the edges, where Kate, Emma and Layla were not, but she's a fantastic mom. I loved that about her. Not that I didn't like Emma, Layla or Kate, but Dell is definitely my favorite. Luke and Dell is a winning combination - the two of them, their chemistry and the plot of their story. Hands down, the best I've read from Brenda yet! Now, I'm just waiting on a story for Niko...

5 Absolutely Amazing Stars  TITLE~ Edge (Fire on Ice #3) AUTHOR~ Brenda Rothert GENRE~ Romance-Sports & Games DATE PUB./PUBLISHER~ May 1st 2014 PURCHASED/COST~ ARC for review MY RATING~ 5 MY THOUGHTS~  I chose to read this one because I absolutely could NOT wait to get my hands on this one after reading the first two! I'm pretty sure I loved everything about Edge! Brenda Rothert did it again with this third book in the Fire on Ice series. Once again I was held completely captive by this awesome read! We got to know Luke a bit in both Bound and Captive, so the character was very well developed. I so looked forward to finally reading his story and when I did, it surpassed all my hopes for it! Edge was very well written as all of Brenda Rothert's previous books have been. She is a wonderful author who really seems to pour heart and soul into her work. As far as I'm concerned this author has never written anything but stellar books! I will most definitely read and look forward to any other books that may come in this series, as well as anything else she writes!  In Edge, we got to hear more of Ryke and Kate's story too! That is a huge plus for me, because I fell in love with that couple at the very start of the series. So, having them all involved in this book was just the icing on the cake!

Brenda has given us everything in this book...I laughed, cried, swooned, got mad and at times 'sat in the edge of my seat' from the suspense! I would definitely keep reading this series if she wrote more!

The writing in this novel is exhilarating.  Rothert takes off skating, and you spend the entire novel out of breath.  I read it in little more than a single sitting.  The story itself is wildly imaginative and fiercely loveable.  It is seamlessly put together, and presented in a manner that you can’t help but visualise.  The hockey behind the novel is also solid.  It was a complete rush.  This is an emotionally profound novel.  Rothert tells an incredibly racy love story while also tackling some very tough issues.  Rothert definitely had me in tears more than once, and laughing out loud a great deal.  There were also some moments that cause me to swoon. Before I even start talking about the characters I should probably mention that I was hooked on the male lead when he was just a minor character in the first novel of the series.  Now that he’s fully developed to lead the story, he’s absolutely unforgettable.  He is beyond swoon-worthy.  The female lead is definitely very unique as well.  She is fighting to reconcile so many aspects of life that it amazes me that she’s still standing on her own two feet.  Together, these two are unforgettable.  Combine this with the strong secondary characters that Rothert brings forward and you have the perfect cast.   Overall, this was a fantastic novel.  If I weren’t hooked on the series before I would be now.  My final thoughts?  Bring on the next please! Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

Thought this would be just another predictable love story, and happily i was wrong. I cried with the loss of her child, and was glad when she found love in the most unlikely place. Look forward to reading more of this authors work!

I didn’t know what to expect from Luke’s story.  Who, how and when he would find his love, his heart.  But no worries, he came along and stole my heart. Have to comment on the intense sexual tension that leads up to their first touch-more than a month after they met. Super blush! But they do a great job of making the most of the time, together and apart- flirty text is fun! Hottest shower scene EVAH! Definitely not safe to read around others. Fantastic dialogue, witty and funny.  At times very sweet and tender. The men that BR creates are complex and fearless. Luke is no exception. Never looked for anything past tonight, yet refuse to lie to himself and think that Dell isn’t worth it all.  More than sex-more than friends. She calls him on his BS then cheers the loudest for him.  His care and respect fo for her is beautiful. What do you do when your future stands before but doesn’t match what you believe you deserve and can handle? Dell is a fascinating character.  Selfless to a fault.  Loyal and dedicated to her friends, family and job.  Along with BFF Sadie she makes her life work.  No time for fun.  No time for romance.  But when she gets a taste of what her life could be what will she do? Luke and Ryke’s friendship is perfect–”BFF-best f*cking friends”– such a way with words ;) I love Ryke – he and Kate and their family are beautiful. Having Luke out of his comfort zone makes him decide what is truly important. Now to get everyone else on board so they can take a shot at happiness! Then to find Sadie a hottie…and Niko some love!

This isn't your head-over-heels/love-at-first-sight fairy tale. This is a story of two people who fall in love naturally and passionately. Luke is the  kind of male character who is real enough to feel like you know him and surreal enough to make it impossible to put this book down. Adella is so smart and independent that her flaws and insecurities make you cheer for her and Luke throughout the book. Way to go, Ms. Rothert!

I really love this series from brenda. I have read the first 2 books and fell in love with ryker but luke is something special. Dell is a great character for a women, strong and independent and has a child. The relationship doesnt seemed forced and just flows. Different from other stories where the male has to win over both mother and son which of course luke does. Boy he is a hot alpha male or what, the love scene are great . I am hoping for another book with nikko and sadie. keep them coming...
