For readers of the Midnight Breed series, this is going to be bitter-sweet! For readers of the Midnight Breed Series, this will be a bitter-sweet read! Time has marched on! Although placed twenty years after the Breed's 'outting' to the public, it picks up with the same attitude and force! I do think its necessary to have the series under your belt before reading this book! For the record, I LOVED it! It was great to see what happens to the younger breed generation. I DO like how half the book was NOT relegated to explaining the past over and over. The short history lines will bring it all back to Breed fans! This ARC copy of EDGE OF DAWN was given to me by NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group - Bantam Dell in exchange for an honest review. Pub Date Feb 26 2013

ABOUT THE BOOK: Twenty years after the terror of First Dawn—when mankind learned that vampires lived secretly among them—the threat of violence reigns as the two species struggle to coexist. The only group preserving the fragile harmony is the Order, an elite cadre of Breed warriors dedicated to protecting humans and vampires alike. And in this precarious world of torn loyalties and shattered trust, Mira, a fiery squad captain, finds that every fight bears an intensely personal cost. Raised among the Order, Mira has always believed in the warrior’s code of swift—and even lethal—justice. But the one thing she desires more than the Order’s hard-won acceptance is Kellan Archer, a sexy but troubled Breed fighter. In love with him since childhood, Mira once broke through his tough exterior during an unexpected night of rapture, but the next day he mysteriously disappeared, never to return. Kellan didn’t think he would ever see Mira again—or have to confront the truth of why he left. After abandoning the Order years ago, he now leads a band of human rebels intent on carrying out their own vigilante rule of law. Yet a high-profile kidnapping assignment brings him face-to-face with the past he sought to avoid, and the striking woman he has tried desperately to forget. And as tensions mount and the risk of bloodshed grows, Kellan and Mira must take sides—between the competing missions that dominate their lives, and the electrifying passion that claims their hearts. REVIEW: Oh…my…God! I have read every single book in this series and I do have to say, this one is by far my favorite. While I was a bit apprehensive about seeing Mira as a grown woman, seeing in the last book she was still a little girl, I do think Ms. Adrian did a phenominal job in explaining the jump in time. The building of feelings between these characters was very believable and the angst behind why they weren’t together was top notch. The plot kept you engaged and the ending about tore my heart in half until Ms. Adrian managed to make it all better. I really don’t think I can praise this book enough, so instead I’ll summarize the entire thing with a few choice words. Edge of Dawn is an engaging and raw masterpiece that will have you both on the edge of your seat while reading and flaming the heat of desire from your face as you go. Ms. Adrian has done it again and if I could I’d give six stars for a FANTASTIC read.

I knew this book would not dissapoint! Lara is one of my favorite authors and this is one of my favorite series. My heart broke for Mira and I fell in love with Kellan. We get introduced to the next generation of warriors and breedmates, and I am so excited to see what is next, but don't worry, you still get your healthy dose of the first generation breeds and their breedmates.

Kellan and Mira's love, which began in childhood, survives even death. In doing so becomes stronger as they confront the many challenges facing the Order. That isn't to say reconnecting wasn't without its struggles, but it was all worth it in the end. Kellan and Mira's love says anything is possible. It was nice catching up with the original members. Can't wait to see what happens with their offspring. The adventure continues with new enemies to fight and new love to be discovered.

What a great story to continue the struggle the order faces to find peace. I loved Mira and Kellan's story. I have lived this entire series and hope the story continues.

Was unable to put this down. Read whole thing in 3 hours. The twists i didn't see coming. A truly touching story of how love can conquer all even when it seems fate won't. Will be going back to re-read this again for sure. Mira and Kellan's story should not be missed. Cannot wait for the next Breed novel!

Lara Adrian transports her Midnight Breed series to 20 years into the future after First Dawn. Tensions are high among the humans and the vampires. The Order's leader, Lucan, is trying to balance the prickly relationship but soon discovers that there are other forces inside and outside the Order working against them and these forces are trying to make the vampires out to be the bad guys. Edge of Dawn focuses on the breed warrior Kellan and his breedmate, Mira. Kellan was supposedly killed eight years before and Mira has felt empty ever since. He was her best friend and only lover and it was all taken away from her in a ball of fire. Only revenge keeps her motivated and fighting for the Order. Then one day during a routine “babysitting” mission, Mira discovers a life shattering secret, Kellan is still alive. What is worse, he is the leader for the rebels. Kellan has lived with major regret this entire time but after what he saw in Mira’s eyes that night eight years before, he figured he had no choice. Adrian takes her readers on an emotional roller coaster. Kellan thinks that disappearing was the way to protect Mira only to discover that he has been wrong all along. There is no way to avoid your destiny and his involves facing the Order and paying for what he has done. As Kellan and Mira try to figure out who the actual bad guys are; they also discover that they can no longer deny their love for each other. This series definitely got a new makeover and the storyline is refreshed. I was unable to put the book down once I started. The ending reveals where Adrian is going with the series and I for one want to be first in line for this ride. (Book was provided by publisher in exchange for an honest review)

I like how the author brought in new characters yet still keep the old one involved. The story line was great. Looking forward to future books.

This is probably the best book in this series. Well written/detailed and contains more emotion than others within the series. My only quam about Adrian's series is that it mimicks J R Ward's-Black Dagger Brotherhood. The stories/characters are very much alike. Anyway, it is a great read and I expect we'll see more and it may begin with Nathan's character...One more thing: It has been difficult for me to have an emotional bound with these characters. This latest book, was the first in this series that I found a true connection..don't know why, other than the wriiter never allows you to get the full connection. J R Ward's BDB series has ALWAYS offered the connection with true stay power.

I absolutely loved this book, possibly even more than all the others. I was afraid it might seem like a completely different series since it starts out 20 years later, but Lara makes the transition seamless. We see alot of our favorite warriers of the Order (especially Lucan), and its great to see their children all grown up. The story is interesting and the twists near the end have me salivating for the next book!

I was a little lost when I first started reading this. I thought I had missed a book. So it did take some time getting into it. (After checking the series order several time) . I am so glad I read this book. What a beautiful story with Kellan and Mira. Their love lasted. This book was a flurry of different emotions and i loved every minute of it. I can not wait for the next story.

Absolutely Fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lara never fails to bring it like she means it. I love the way she keeps "The Order" evolving, with new blood always coming into play. The Midnight Breed Series just keeps on getting better and better with so much more potential for more books. Keep it going Lara, can't wait to read what's next.

Like the book, but needed more insight into what happened prior to this book being written.

I really like reading Lara Adeian's (the Order). I have all of them on my Nook. I would recommend reading reading The Order books first. It shows that all vampires aren't the monsters we think they are.

If you love paranormal, romance, sex, suspense...then this series is for you. It gets better with each book. Love it. Can't wait for the next one.....

The beginning felt a bit disjointed due to the reader having to taken in about 10 years worth of information in the two pages of journal entry and many new characters. However, after you get past that it is a fantastic read and very quick as well. I love how Lara allows the younger generation of the Order to take more control and allow us to learn about them now as adults but still keep the original generation in the series as mentors. I am interested to see how this new villain will continue to affect the Order and how they will combat that.

I absolutely love the Midnight Breed Series. And this bood did not disappoint. I'm just very excited that she has continued the story. I was afraid the Series ended with the book about Chase. I love the new twist and can't wait to read the next book!!!

I love the direction this book took advancing to the next generation, and the story line was gripping, I could not put the book down. A must read for all Paranormal Romance fans, or anyone who loves a good love story, Vampire story, or just a great book!

Do I really have to wait ANOTHER year for the next book? I'll never survive! I am definitely liking the direction this series is taking! I admit I was leery about the time jump and the new unknown Story Arc, but this was an excellent read—As always. Loved it!
