About the Author

Isaac "Ike" Shapiro was born in Tokyo, Japan, in 1931. He came to the United States in 1946 and became an American citizen in 1951, while serving in the U.S. Army. He is a graduate of Columbia College, Columbia Law School, and the Institute of Comparative Law of the University of Paris. He is a member of the New York and Paris bars and serves as of Counsel to the firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. In 2006, he was decorated with the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays and Neck Ribbon by the Emperor of Japan. He and his wife live in New York. They have three children and four grandchildren.
