Thomas, aptly dubbed the "The Rock of Chickamauga" by Secretary of War Edwin Stanton, provided a new system of logistics to military strategy. His use of now familiar warfare components-railroads, camouflage and map coordinates-helped the Army of the Cumberland to achieve a legendary reputations.

This is by far the best biography of General George H. Thomas. Very well documented with some new information. The author goes into detail with both the battle details and some education speculation on some of contraversial issues. I recommend this as the first book to be read on Thomas.
