About the Author

Professor Hemlata Joshi, Department of Geography, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur is also UGC Research Awardee at present. Earlier, she was head and Professor in Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur. She was also awarded ICSSR Senior Research Fellowship. Besides, being a Gold Medalist, she is also the recipient of prestigious ‘Chancellor's Gold Medal' from the University of Rajasthan, Jaipur. Her areas of specialization are Human Development Studies, Industrial Geography and Remote Sensing. She has completed research projects on A Geographical Appraisal of Textile Mill IndustryBanswara District (UGC), Fairs of Vagad Region (Tribal Research Institute Udaipur), Education Development Index of Panchayat Samities, Rajasthan, 1991-2000, Economic Development Index, Health Status Index and Human Development Index: Spatio-Temporal and Gender Appraisal at Panchayat Samiti/Block Level (all of Institute of Development Studies, Jaipur) and Gram Panchayat Level Education Development Status in Rajasthan (ICSSR).
