12-year-old Ricco Lopez is the second team goalkeeper on his school futbal team. He wants to play on the Saprissa sub-pro futbal team. He lives in Heredia Coast Rica with his mother Anna, father Jose and his younger sister Isabela. His best friend Berto Clevo is also on the school team. He is designated as the starting goalkeeper when the first team goalkeeper is injured. Ricco works hard to improve his skills and after a championship match, he is invited to play on two sub-pro teams. One is close by and the other is his favorite team that is much farther away from his neighborhood. Follow Rico as he works for a position on a sub-pro Costa Rica premier team.
About the Author
Before starting his writing career, Tecumapese Morning Star, Tec to his friends, was an elementary school librarian and teacher. After leaving the education field, he worked in the fast-food industry, the hospitality industry, and the retail industry. Tec is a graduate of the Institute of Children’s Literature. He has a diploma in writing for children from the Stratford Career Institute. Tec also has a diploma in freelance writing from the Penn Foster Distant Learning Center. He has one son and three grandchildren. Tec in his free time practices and teaches karate. He holds the rank of Soke, tenth-degree black belt. He also has a Doctor of Philosophy and Sciences in Martial Arts. Tec also holds a third and fourth-degree rank in two other styles. He also enjoys playing saxophone in a local community wind symphony. Tec is also a retired certified United States Soccer Federation referee. Tec and his family are of Native American descent and enrolled members of the Shawnee Nation Appalachian Tribe.
