This book clearly states nutritional facts in an easy to read format. The print is suitable for elderly readers. Documentation is included in the text with a full bibliography at the end of the book so that the reader knows the recommendations are scientifically based. The author includes helpful information for purchasing and preparing foods while being sensitive to their cost and availability. The nutritional information for hospitalized patients and its effect on their recovery points out the necessity of frank conversations with the hospital staff, especially their nutritionists. I recommend this book for all health conscious readers, not only elderly readers. It is a great book for caregivers.

This book addresses all the common health challenges faced by the elderly, such as bone and muscle loss, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, weight issues, as well as some of the less recognized ones, like depression, fatigue, digestive and sleep disturbances. It provides detailed recommendations backed by research and clinical observations, for proper diet, supplements and exercises, to both prevent and treat these health issues. The chapter on general guidelines for a nutrient-rich diet contains practical money-saving tips, the author also reviews dietary supplements in great detail, and gives specific menu suggestions. Organized in an easy-to-follow format and published in large print, It's an excellent resource not only for the elderly and their care-takers, but for anyone who want to learn more about proper nutrition for aging human bodies.
