This book is entertaining, informative, and delightful. The friendly tones are easy to read and engaging. Magical creature lovers from middle school and older will enjoy flipping pages or reading cover-to-cover. I highly recommend it.

I recommend this book for fantasy writers of every ilk because I have been seduced by one creature or another several different times while perusing the book and had to find a way to add the "magical creature" to my cast of characters...or occasionally just as a peripheral oddity.

This book is really interesting. It talks about creatures that people have created throughout history in myths and legends and compares them to how they are viewed today in such books as Harry Potter. It is amazing what people have ¿thought-up¿. It is the best resource for people interested in cryptozoology.

Although I'm still having trouble sleeping, the descriptions of the beasts in this book seem pretty accurate compared to everything else I've read on the subject. Not too many pictures, but my imagination supplies them, much to my chagrin.
