This is an powerful book and very well written. The author not only takes you through her own very painful journey, but also supplies help in overcoming your own 'elephants'. When I read this book, I remember breathing a sigh of relief that all those horrible feelings were far behind me (I had been raped 27 years earlier). I thought that I had dealt with everything years ago. I now know that the Lord brought that book to me at just that time because he knew I would need it for what was in store for me a few months later. While on an innocent shopping trip, I came face to face with my rapist's mother. She knew all the horrible things from the past (although he was never prosecuted). She began talking to me and telling me about his current life. I never dreamed that this would happen, and I also never dreamed that five minutes of my life would take me back 27 years and bring back all the pain and nightmares. I really hadn't totally been purged at all. I contacted the author and met with her. She is amazing. Not only does she share the most intimate parts of her past, but she is also willing to share her time to help others in person. She met with me, she listened, she advised, and prayed with me, and she helped me through this. Through my conversation with her, it came out that hundreds of women (like myself) have opened up to her and shared their painful secrets with her and have found healing through this book. I would love to see a follow up on this book done by the author. She has heard so many stories and talked to so many other women who have survived rape and shared their stories for the first time, it would be an additional inspirational help to all of us in this unfortunate 'club' to read more of the painful journeys that are ending in victory! I will look forward to a sequel.
