In a weak attempt to 'explain' why he and the other 2 members of the Memphis Mafia helped co-author 'Elvis: What Happened?', there is way too much 'I', 'Me' and 'my career in films' in this new book. No one cares about you, Sonny, just about Elvis. Mr. West also seems to take pride in the many instances where he either broke someone's nose, pummeled someone, or whatever else he did physically, in the name of protecting his boss, including how many 'manly' injuries he sustained over the long haul. Who cares? The book could have been cut by about 1/3 if this unappealing and unnecessary stuff had been left out. No one cares about Sonny West. They do, however, care about the legend that is Elvis Presley. There was also too much of the 'we wrote this book to save Elvis'life' nonsense. If his loved ones, professionals, etc. could not get the man to admit he had a problem, did these 3 actually think they could convince him to go into rehab by exposing his drug problems to the world? There are so many instances of Presley rage throughout the book, known already by most Presley fans, did they actually think a magical lightbulb would go off over Elvis' head to show him that in fact he needed rehab? Quite frankly, I think the book was the straw that broke the camel's back. Also, for someone who is such a Christian, it is interesting that he bashes so many people he knew along the way, including Presley's wife and child. This book was a complete joke.
