Great second book for this series. I loved Ember and Jace. My heart broke for Ember and Jace and the events that caused them to miss out on so many years together. I would have loved to strangled Jace's step-brother for interfering in their young love. In the end they take a journey together to find out the truth about what happened that night so many years ago. Jace laid his heart out to Ember, but she was still running away when things got tough, until she realized what she was doing. Finally, she realized how much she loved Jace and just how far Jace would go to make her happy and to do the right thing. Can't wait to get Scott's story and to see where his journey takes him on his road to happiness.

I just read Ember’s Fire: A Hearts of Harkness Romance (The Standish Clan, #2), by Norah Wilson, and she’s done it again, hit another home run. I loved Ember and Jace’s story, as I have all of her books I’ve read. The plot is very interesting and the characters very likeable. The heroine is strong and confident, which is refreshing. The mystery about their past draws the reader into the story quickly. And wow, the passion! Great love scenes and the sometimes humorous dialogue add to the romantic tension between characters. The time frame is the same as the first book in the series, but I didn’t find it unnecessarily repetitive. Some of the dialogue is covered again, but it only serves as background to make this a standalone novel, though I do recommend reading A Fall From Yesterday, as it is every bit as good as this one. The transition from the first story to this one is smooth. It’s a bittersweet, second chance romance with very real to life characters. The Standishes are such an amazing family, built on love, unity, and loyalty. As well as great heroes and heroines, Norah Wilson can write a good villain, as I found myself wanting to punch a certain character several times during the story. I really appreciate the environmental angle and the underlying message of preservation for the future. I love, love, loved the ending and can’t wait for Promise Me The Stars, Scott’s story, the next book in the series, to release. The series may be a trilogy, but I think Ryker needs his own story – just saying. All in all, this is a must read for romance fans and I highly recommend it. I received and ARC of this title in exchange for an honest review.

A Wonderful Read This can be a standalone read, but I enjoyed that it follows along with the first book, showing what happens to Ember! Two sweethearts felt betrayed by the other years ago... now they come face to face... together will they find out what really happened? Ember's Fire is a touching second chance novel that looks deep into the characters and shares a wonderful journey towards forgiveness and finding the truth. Loved how things unfolded... I am really enjoying this family and how things have been turning out for each of them... now I am really curious about seeing how things with come out for Scott. *copy given in exchange for an honest review.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. When I read Book 1, I thought there would be more great stories down the line. Well, I just read Book 2 and it was fantastic. The very first thing that I felt when reading was that I needed to know what was happening to these characters. The stories have sucked me in – in the very best of ways! It’s a family that is close but as with all families, there are past hurts and mistakes that are not insurmountable but need to be dealt with and “fixed”. This story is about Ember Standish, the only daughter in the family – and yes, the “little sister” to her big brothers! – who is now a physician and all grown up. Yeah, try telling that to her brothers. She is off to an errand of mercy (which takes place concurrently with her brother Titus’ story in Book 1) and ends up with an old flame, Jace Picard. I won’t go into more detail as the discovery of their story is what makes it enjoyable. The author did an amazing job of characterization because there is one secondary character that I still want to slap upside the head and then ‘mother’ the main characters. Very enjoyable read and I am SO looking forward to the next book – I really, really need to know what happens (in this case) to Scott!

Loved this one! Ember Standish and Jace Picard were young high school loves who thought they would spend their lives together. Then one awful night changes everything. Now years later they are thrown together by meddling family and weather. Talking things out seems like the thing to do but as they do it becomes clear there was more to that night than they know. This story takes them on a journey to uncover all the secrets and truths of that fateful night. Along the way they might just find the way to forgiveness and new hope. A truly great story and I highly recommend it.

A sweet romantic story of second chance and family relationship! I really enjoyed, Norah Wilson's first book, A Fall from Yesterday, Titus's own story with Ocean. Now, in Ember's Fire, we follow Ember's story with Jace, her ex boyfriend. Their journey is emotional, and it's all about family ties and relationships, forgiveness, trust, second chance and of course love. Set in Harkness, New Brunswick, on Canada's East coast! The Standish Clan series, is about the Standish family, specially Ember, Titus and Scott, brothers and sister. In Ember's Fire, we discover Ember, who once, had loved Jace very much, but something happened, to break that trust. Now a doctor, she’s dispatched to carry meds out to an injured hiker, only to discover that the man is Jace. Meanwhile a storm is brewing, and both have to face each other. What will happen next? Ember may be able to mend Jace's foot, but can she mend her broken heart? Can she forgive him? Can she trust him again? Will they get a second chance at love! Norah Wilson is a talented storyteller, she never disappoints me. I love, this well written series very much and I'm looking forward to read Scott's story, in Promise Me the Stars, coming next March.
