About the Author

I confess I've had a love affaire with vampires for several years now, especially warrior vampires, the kind found in the books of Sherrilyn Kenyon, Lara Adrian and JR Ward. Though I've been published in Regency Romance under the pseudonym Valerie King--and yes one of my Regency Novellas features a vampire--one day I woke up knowing I had to create my own contemporary world of the warrior vampire.

For some mystical, magical reason, early in the process, my vampires appeared with enormous beautiful wings and it has been the most amazing experience to include flight in my novels, in both battle scenes and scenes involving spectacle. My special vampire world, published by St. Martin's Press, is introduced in the first book called, ASCENSION (12-28-2010). The second book, BURNING SKIES (May of 2011), opens up the world a little bit more. And even as I write this, I'm on the final draft of my third novel, WINGS OF FIRE (September of 2011). What a thrill it has been to live with my ascended vampires through the creation of this extraordinary, multi-dimensional world!

For more information about my unique take on the vampire mythos, check out my website at carisroane.com and my book release video on YouTube by putting in the search phrase, Caris Roane Ascension.

With every hope you'll enjoy reading my books set in the World of Ascension, All my best, Caris Roane

The third in the Blood Rose Series, this is dedicated to Quinlan and Batya, both natives of the Nine Realms although Batya left to live in 'mortal' earth, for reasons you find out as the book develops. In fact, it is not only the book that develops, but the series as a whole, as facts come to light and more starts to make sense. There is a name now for the 'big bad', an understanding of what is wanted, and more to the point, what is needed to stop it. The chemistry is rife between Quinlan and Batya and, although you might think that the timing is wrong, they still manage to make time for each other. And boy, is it hot! There are appearances from previous characters, as well as from new ones. Some I'm not sure if they're part of the bigger picture or not, but I still really like reading about them. This is a brilliant addition to the Blood Rose series and will definitely leave you wanting more. Highly recommended. * I received a copy of this book from the author in return for a fair and honest review. * Merissa Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!

~~Copy gifted in exchange for an honest review~~ The Blurb: Mastyr Quinlan pursues the artist, Batya, with only one thing in mind but soon discovers that his desire for her is just the beginning of an earth-shattering affair…  He doesn’t want a woman in his life…  Quinlan must keep Grochaire Realm safe from the enemy at all costs. As ruler of his realm, a woman has no permanent place in his day-to-day existence. But when his lust takes him to Batya’s bedroom, he soon discovers he’s deep into a powerful experience that threatens to blow his life apart. He wants Batya with a feverish desire that makes no sense in his logical, warrior world. But when an ancient fae attacks Batya’s gallery, he launches into protector mode and soon finds himself embroiled -- body, soul, and fangs -- with a woman he’d only meant to bed a couple of times.  She has no desire to get involved with a mastyr vampire…  Batya’s intense desire for Mastyr Quinlan stuns and baffles her. She doesn’t want to be involved with the vampire on any level. His sole focus of ruling Grochaire Realm has kept him from staying with one woman longer than the proud length of his fangs. Besides, she’s built a life for herself in Lebanon, Tennessee as an artist and healer to the realm ex-patriot community. But when the ancient fae attacks Quinlan at her gallery, then attempts to kidnap her assistant, Batya finds herself catapulted into an astonishing adventure. Even so, she works steadily to get back to her free-clinic and her painting, but how can she leave Quinlan behind when he’s commanded her like no other man ever has? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mastyr Quinlan of Grochaire Realm and Batya’s story. This series gets better by the book. More new characters are introduced and more is discovered about the Invictus, the ancient fae and the realms.  Batya is an artist and chooses to live outside the realms and help the realm ex-patriot community. Quinlan desires her and she him, but she doesn’t want to live in the realms or stop helping those in need, so she refuses his advances until he is attacked at her gallery by the ancient fae who also attempts to kidnap Batya’s assistant.  Together, they embark on an amazing adventure to help her assistant find safety and discover hidden things, falling in love along the way. Their path isn’t easy. Following along on their adventure was so very enjoyable. I highly recommend this series.

This is the 3rd volume in The Blood Rose Series and is just as action packed and sexy as the first two. Bayta tries to flee the Nine Realms, she attracts the attention of a Mastyr Vampire, Quinlan, when he has a taste of her he can’t understand why he craves more. Can these two work together to save the Nine Realms? Escape into a world of the paranormal with this fun, exciting read. The characters are excellent, the book fast paced and very sexy. Great Read!

Embrace this magical mystery, and find a loving home in the Realms!! I adore books that tuck little nuggets into the characters that I can easily relate to... like wrestling with the choice between career and moving to be with the one you love. It is a sub-plot here, and yet a relatable conflict as two characters who are deeply involved in their communities come together to help a person who needs their aid. Another aspect of this story greatly enjoyed was the vivid scenery in the realms, taking the reader out beyond the settled communities into the hidden wilds of this other space, exploring more of the magic and mystery of the history of the nine realms. I was given a copy of this story in exchange for an honest review and enjoyed reading it tremendously. A part of me would love to find a portal to the Realms to slip through so I can encounter these fantastic characters ... the rest of me, like our heroine, feels too tied to my life in this world.

Copy received in return for honest review. This felt different to me than the previous books in the series. I enjoyed Quinlan when he appeared in the last book and I'm glad to get his story, but the vibe of the book was different. I wasn't sure I liked it much in the beginning but I did enjoy the book and the peeks at greater realm workings to come. There is much still to be seen in the Nine Realms and this hints at many future plot twists.

Really liked this one. I liked Quinlan a lot, and enjoyed his tale. This story line that continues on in all the series is really starting to heat up and take over. I love that, I love that all the stories keep to the same theme, a common enemy. Each Realm is fighting the same things and doing their best to not let the evil take over and rule all. This one was good, cause we actually start to get some where, learning who is in charge of everything evil going on. She is no longer the unknown ancient fae. But this isn't the end of the story, only the end of Quin and Batya's story. Which was a beautiful one, filled with love and hope. This book was gifted to me for an honest review.

I liked Book 3 in the Blood Rose series better than Book 2, Embrace the Magic. I found the characters in Book 2, wishy-washy in their wants and views, but in Book 3 the characters are strong and carry the story smoothly. Both Quinlan (and BTW, I love that name for a male character) and Batya do not want a relationship and are upfront about it. Quinlan is the quintessential bachelor, he has a reputation with the ladies and his dislike for long-term relationships. Batya knows of his reputation and she doesn't only want to be in a long-term relationship with anyone, because she loves her independence, she definitely doesn't want a relationship with Quinlan. At the beginning she fights off his advances, but she is upfront with the fact that she is attracted to him. The fact that she tells him no appeals to Quinlan so he sets out to win her, for a short amount of time. They look each other in the eyes, early on, and both say they didn't want a relationship, but they do decide to enjoy each other's company for the moment, once they are thrust into their adventure to save Lorelei. I thought that was refreshing. We either have characters who deny their attraction or pursue one another without being open and clear that they didn't want a relationship beyond the short-term. I enjoyed the fact that they gave in to their attraction rather than playing cat and mouse. I also found Batya refreshing because there are a few times when Quinlan says something hurtful and insultive towards her. He accuses her of putting a spell on him, and he resents her for his attraction towards her. I expected her the react in the classic romance novel fashion, pulling back and building walls up, but she instead sees why he says it and doesn't judge him because of it. Throughout their adventure to get Lorelei safely to Ferrenden Peace, they explore their attraction. The conflict and plot moves smoothly forward, there are no dry or dull spots. Things move quickly throughout the story. The villain, the Ancient Fae, is formidable and she continues to develop as a character. Batya and Quinlan come to realize they love each other at the exact same moment, which I enjoyed reading. They are forced to acknowledge their feelings and they don't hold back their words of love. After that moment, the whole story takes on a sweet and enjoyable reading experience. I loved the resolution, and how Quinlan embraces his feelings and relationship with Batya. The ending was utterly perfect. I know my review has been a bit wordy, so here is a quick summary: I enjoyed this installment the best. I enjoyed the characters and Roane's ability to tell a beautiful story comes clearly through the characters and plot. I loved reading this story. Copy given in exchange for an honest review.

Another wonderful addition to this series! Book 3 in the Blood Rose series... It is Mastyr Quinlan's story and takes place six months after book 2. He is the leader of the Grochaire Realm, loves his land and its people, but is a little distracted with his attraction to Batya. While trying to seduce her, the Invictus attack once again. Throughout this story we learn quite a bit about connections some of the characters have to others... This book drew me in with seeing how things unfolded and revealed themselves! What an adventure! I love how each story can be a standalone but shares bits of what may come next... Copy gifted in exchange for an honest review.

This is the 3rd book I have read in the blood rose series and I am thoroughly enjoying them. It was a hot and steamy romance but also a wonderful love story. Liked the fact that we meet Quinn in previous book so you felt you knew him a little. "copy gifted in exchange for an honest review".

I got a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review, and let me tell you, this book is awesome! This is the third book in the Blood Rose series and it begins to answer questions that were put forth in the first two of the series, while creating a beautiful love story with enough action to keep you turning the pages. I would consider story a wonderful lead to the the next book in the series and I can't wait to get my hands on it. The hero and heroine create enough sparks that I often had to fan myself with my Nook and when they finally realized everything about everything...it was...well...um...AWESOME!!! Let me tell you this alpha hero is great when he get knocked off his high and mighty by a strong female heroine that well completes him and I just love watching him stumble through falling in love with "His Woman." It's Great!! :o)

"Copy gifted in exchange for an honest review" Roane spins yet another adventure in her Blood Rose Series Book 3.  Caris is an author with a flair for descriptive places and characters. Focus is on Mastyr Vampire Quinlan of Realm Grochaire and Batya, who possesses artistic and healing powers.  The pair set on a path that will lead to Ferrenden Place.  This quest will reveal hidden secrets and powers that both will need to overcome the attacks of the ancient Fae and her Invictus.  Visits from people already introduced in the series make appearances with surprising connections.

This was a great book. I was sucked in from the beginning and it held me all the way to the end. Bayta and Master Vampire Quinlan do not disappoint. They are well developed characters that leap off the page at you individually  and together. Their story involves unexpected plot twists, trying to work together(while having issues of their own to deal with) and helping a friend in need and unforeseen dangers and unexpected love. The way the story was written is very easy to follow and a great addition to the Blood Rose series.*copy gifted in exchange for honest review

This book was well written and was easy to read and follow. Caris wrote the book in great detail, I was sucked in to her world from the very first word. Now for a few words about the book. Embrace the Mystery is another awesome installment to The Blood Rose series. This story takes you on a journey with Betya and Mastyr Vampire Quinlin. What started as a quest of seduction turned into more that they bargained for. Together they must uncover a mystery of their fables and about themselves. I loved following the characters on their quest and learning about each of them as they fight to learn who they truly are and where their future lies. Can't wait for the next installment. *Copy gifted in exchange for an honest review.
