I'm program coordinator for a non-profit, Up and Running Again. We train the homeless to complete half marathons. Before our long runs, we read a devotional with the team. We have found Lisa Preuett's devotional book to offer brief and concise enough devotional chapters to real aloud and hold the runner's attention. Also it is written in a way that is very relatable to every runner- beginner or advanced. Additionally, it offers both the new Christian and the long time follower of Christ truths to reflect on and ways to put it into practice. Recently one of our runners was reading aloud one of the chapters to her peers and she was crying as she read it because it touched her so deeply. Lisa, thank you for sharing your gift of writing with our teams!

I love these devotions by Lisa Preuett. Each one has a title relating to running a race and running God's race with a relevant scripture. She talks about pacing, equipment, timing, and injuries, among many other topics. Each devotion can be read in one sitting. At the end of each devotion are three action items. Ready?-a question about the devotion you just read that relates to your personal race, Get Set.-a scripture, and Go!-a prayer to pray to help, encourage, etc relating to the devotion and scripture. This is a great personal devotion to give you a closer walk with God. Whether you run or not, you'll enjoy these devotions as a time to get to know God and yourself. I received a free copy from the author.

Highly recommend this daily devotional from a runners perspective with wisdom for walking the life of faith. And I can say this even being a non runner as the author uses analogies from a runners life to challenge the reader in their Christian walk. I can honestly say this book challenged me in every chapter. The book would best be read as a daily devotional reading one chapter a day. Each chapter starts with a key verse, followed by a running analogy to the Christian life and then ends with life application piece, a key verse that' supports the key topic and a prayer to personalize the lesson. This book covered topics from all perspectives of the Christian life including: commitment, rest, investment, equipping ourselves, seeking God first, fleeing evil and temptation, encouragement, preparing for battles, trust, feeding our thought life, taking shortcuts among so many more topics. My favorite devotional was entitled "In all conditions" and talked about resolving to keep running the race by intentionally choosing to keep on trusting and not giving up based on verse about being able to do all things through Christ. Get a copy of this book and be prepared to grow deeper in your walk with the Lord for the next 40 days.
