Emily the Chickadee Emily Waits For Her Family Carol Zelaya Illustrated by Kristin Metcalf Richlee Publishing, 2008 Reviewed by Debra Gaynor for ReviewYourBook.com, 03/09 5 stars Delightful. Carol Zelaya uses prose to tell the true story of Emily Chickadee. Emily the Chickadee: Emily Waits For Her Family is a delightful way to teach young children about nature. This is the first book in a three book series. It is sturdily bound. The illustrations are beautifully done. They perfectly compliment the text. The story shares the joy of watching Emily build a nest for her family. After the eggs hatch, Emily feeds her little ones. The story continues to follow the babies' progress until they are old enough to fly away. Emily Waits For Her Family will make a great gift.

This is a tender-hearted book that my BOYS enjoy reading for bedtime stories. The rhythm of the book is so soothing and endearing. For anyone who is looking to emphasize nature's wonders and beauty to children this is a great way to start. I cannot wait for more works from this author.
