Life doesn’t always start with once upon a time.
Love doesn’t always end with happily ever after.

After spending five years with the love of my life, I did nothing to stop her from walking away. She had her reasons to leave. I had my reasons to stay. But a year later, the realization of loss hits me, and I’ll stop at nothing to fix it. I leave everything behind to drive across the country to win her back, and I refuse to accept anything other than fulfilling old promises.

But the only certainty in life is: nothing is as expected.

The most valuable lessons don’t often revolve around a fairytale ending—frequently, they come from hurt and healing. They come from the kind of personal growth love offers. The mending of your heart, your soul, and your life. And every once in a while, you find the greatest gifts in the packages you never expected to open.

Meet the Author

Leddy Harper had to use her imagination often as a child. She grew up the only girl in a house full of boys. At the age of fourteen, she decided to use that imagination and wrote her first book, and never stopped. She often calls writing her therapy, using it as a way to deal with issues through the eyes of her characters. She is now a mother of three girls, leaving her husband as the only man in a house full of females. The decision to publish her first book was made as a way of showing her children to go after whatever it is they want to. Love what you do and do it well. And to teach them what it means to overcome their fears.

I'm a Leddy Harper fan. Her books are nothing short of amazing. This one rendered me speechless. You can read the blurb, which provides an outline of sorts of what was, was is and what perhaps lies ahead, but be assured it's nothing you imagined. The book is the story of Creed and Layne, who meet though his college roommate Colin and his girlfriend Drea. Drea and Layne are sisters. Creed is a serious student, his desire to go to law school his drive and after fooling his way through the first year and a half of college realizes that he has to knuckle under. So he spends every waking moment studying, unlike Colin and Drea still on the party wagon. One night Drea cajoles him into going out with them, they're picking up her sister from work and they have "plans" He were see the relationship with Layne and Creed begin. A shy and private girl and the young man who is smitten. We get to watch their relationship unfold. The book is primarily narrated by Creed, which I loved. The chapters go back and forth from present to past. Where they were and his narration of his now. It is a rare glimpse into his inner dialogue and I so loved that. I felt like this was really his story. It runs the full range of emotions. Creed and Layne both make choices at a point, one that Creed, now am attorney, realizes he cannot live with any longer and thus again the story shifts gears and propels him ahead to her. He's flying blind. He is a man who is unafraid to love, to show his emotions and the depth from which he feels. It's there in that place we find eminent love. The love that goes beyond time, the love that is eternal. Leddy wrecked me with this one. There were too many eloquently written lines, words spoken, thoughts etched that will stay with the reader. For me, it wasn't a sad book. Contrarily, it's a book about two people who love so deeply and infinitely that it will sweep you away. Too bad the max rating is 5 stars because this one rates much higher. *arc gifted by author for preview*

This wasn't just a story but a life journey. It is captivating and beautifully written. I loved hearing the story through Creed's words. The mixture of past and present added to the intensity of Layne and Creed's story unfolding. But I must say I that it ripped my heart out, but thankfully put it back together with the epilogue. I know this book won't be for everyone because of the topic but take my word for it you will be glad you read it "Love is infinite, Creed. There are no limitations, no boundaries, no expiration date."

This is a very touching book. I fell in love with the characters and was breathless throughout wondering how Creed and Layne's love story would end. As with life there are twists and turns, the highest joys and the lowest sorrows. But also like life there was an eternal sweetness and hope weaved through these pages. Learn to believe again that love is eternal.

4.5 emotionally crippling stars! When you're reading a book and take a break or when the book is finished and it feels like you know the characters in real life, you know you have found a great book. Creed and Layne bring a new definition to true love that was easy to get lost in. When I first finished reading Eminent Love, I wasn't very happy with the ending, but the longer I thought about it the less it bothered me. Although the ending wasn't my favorite I had to look at this from a realistic view and accept that it was how the story had to end. "Because eminent love has no bounds. It's infinite."

You need this book! Creed Wallace has his life mapped out. His goals are to finish college, get into law school at Duke and become an attorney. He had no intentions of being side-tracked by a girl much less one that would wind up meaning so much to him. Layne Cooper never expected to find a man as honest and caring as Creed. She's been handed more than her fair share of hurdles and now her focus is to live life to the fullest. I loved this book but it wrecked me. Once I started it, I had a difficult time putting it down. The writing is good and is primarily told from Creed's POV. It flashes between the present and the past. The writing of this book drew me in instantly and it kept me hooked. I loved Layne's spirit and Creed's determination and with all of his faults I felt he loved her. The feeling was present throughout the entire book. This is the first book I've read by this author and look forward to reading more.
