Many songs contain sporadic flashes of high-voltage lyrics, but very few manage to sustain their lyrics as autonomous creations: words rot without the support of musical notes. However, there are exceptions. One is Ian Curtis, founder of Joy Division. The critic Jon Savage has assembled this volume from forty compositions written by Curtis.
