It was just a really sweet romance. Shirley is seeking a home for her sick mother and siblings. Not being able to find a home that they could afford, she decides to rent an old barn for the summer. The young man who owned the barn is intrigued by her desire to live there and tries to help make their lives easier by renovating the place in such a way that didn't offend the girl and her family's sense of pride. As he gets to know the family, he grows to love the girl and the family. But their positions in society seem to hinder them. But ultimately, love triumphs over all. The main thing that I didn't like was the last couple of chapter. They just didn't seem to fit with the overall scheme of the book. However, it was a very good book overall.

The Enchanted Barn is a great story that shows success in the face of need and want . . . the success that only comes through active faith in God! A must read that will share encouragement when we face the daily challenges of life. The story is quite old . . . . and not realistic to our world today . . . . but it is a story that shows us what the world could be if more Christians were faithful to God's plan. All books by Grace Livingston Hill are great, inspirational reading. They are wonderful for all ages . . . . I started reading them in junior high school and now collect the first edition hardbacks, reprint hardbacks, and paperbacks . . . . and I am 63!

Ms Hill was a wonderful Christian author and made all her books without the need of shady sensual content. This book in particular is my all time favorite book. It is captivating and a must read. Now I own it digitally as well as in Hardback. You will love this book.

What can I say... Grace Livingston Hill is such a joy! A book of faith about a family who love the Lord & praise Him no matter what the circumstances. I wouldn't mind living in a barn like this!

This copy was so full of typos and errors that it was barely readable! Great story, but get a different edition, definitely!

I really enjoyed this novel. I down loaded the two freebies offered and found that the one by New york, Grosset and Dunham was readable, the few jumbled words were very easy to figure out. I HIGHLY RECCOMMEND THIS BOOK!

If you enjoy Christian fiction, this author has a lot of nice stories written in 1930s & 40s.

This is a great book, i can see the barn just as clearly as if I were there, hard to put down until finished, easy to look over multiple typos but that is the beauty of the time it was written and typed off, will definitely read again
