Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Joan Carris
Too heavy to stow in a purse or pocket, this DK Pockets Encyclopedia is still handy, whether you have children or not. Its thematic organization includes these major topics: Space, Planet Earth, The Living World, The Human Body, Science and Technology, Transportation, History, and The World. Outstanding illustrations include photographs, maps, diagrams, artworks, fact boxes, and timelines, making it more visual than most encyclopedias though, of course, much briefer. Entries are succinct, clear, and well written, apparently aimed at luring readers into further in-depth research elsewhere. The index is a necessary and excellent plus.
