Endurance by Jack Kilborn, J. A. Konrath

The bed and breakfast was hidden in the hills of West Virginia. Wary guests wondered how it could stay in business at such a creepy, remote location. Especially with its bizarre, presidential decor and eccentric proprietor.

When the event hotel for the national Iron Woman triathlon accidentally overbooked, competitor Maria was forced to stay at the Rushmore. But after checking into her room, she quickly realized she wasn't alone. First her suitcase wasn't where she put it. Then her cell phone was moved. Finally, she heard an odd creaking under the bed. Confusion quickly turned to fear, and fear to hysteria when she discovered the front door was barred and the windows were bricked over. There was no way out.

One year later, four new female athletes have become guests of the Inn. Will they escape the horrors within its walls? Or will they join the many others who have died there, in ways too terrible to imagine?

OMG!!! This book is totally wicked. I read it in two days, all 600+ pages of it. This is the first book in a long while that had me moaning and talking aloud due to the horrors I read. This book gave me nightmares, but in a good way. Jack Kilborn is my new favorite horror writer - sorry Stephen!!! I am officially a fan.... YIKES!!!!!!

Jack Kilborn has found a formula that works - a bunch of likable characters, a bunch of extremely creepy antagonists, an isolated setting and non-stop action. It worked in Afraid, it worked in Trapped and it works here. I found myself staying up far later than I had planned, reading "just one more chapter" again and again. It's hard to stop at just one more chapter when every chapter ends with a cliff-hanger. I'm not sure if he plans on writing more under this pen name, but I sure hope so.

Started off kind of slow but once it picked up, it turned out to be pretty good. All in all I still enjoyed reading it.

Scared me, pretty bad. I quess because most of the assaults were against women, very physically strong and strong-willed women. Makes you wonder what you would be made of, if you were faced with psycho's. God forbid.

Was a little hesitant about reading but after reading AFRAID jumped right in. Author has a way of gripping your interest and not letting you put the book down. Finished it in a few hours.

It was gory and creepy in a corny sort of way. I actually found alot of humor in it also. Don't know if I was suppose to or not. Reminded me alot of the B rated horror films I used to watch as a kid. I loved the variety of the deformed freaks in this story.

Ugh This book was great! Very goof plot twist towards the end. Slightly less gorey than TRAPPED, but still great. Plot was amazing and the characters were terrifyingly brilliant. Their stories were wicked. I'm just a lover of the sick and gore. This book met both aspects.

This is not a story for the faint of heart, or those with a weak stomach, that's for sure. But if you are in the mood for a very sick, twisted, gory horror story, then this one's for you.

This is the kind of creepy story that makes you want to jump into bed from across the room and throw the covers over your feet before the monsters under your bed get them.

Jack Kilborn is the new richard Laymon, his books are so graphis and keep you squirming. I highly recommend " Afraid" and "Trapped" if you are looking for gorror and teror at the same time. All books very well written
