Two battles of the Civil War in the United States were fought in the Cherokee Nation within Indian Territory. This volume examines the first battle of Cabin Creek on July 1st and 2nd of 1863. During this battle, the Confederate Army mounted a raid against a Union Supply train bound for Fort Gibson. The raid was led by Confederate General Stand Watie, a member of the Cherokee Nation.
