From the earliest engineers such as Archimedes and Hero of Alexandria, heroes of the Industrial Revolution like Eli Whitney and Alessandro Volta, and pioneers of the Modern Age with Henry Ford and Wernher von Braun, Engineers looks at more than eighty of the world's greatest engineers — who they were, what they did, and how their projects shaped the course of human history.
The only book to feature engineers from every era of human history and all disciplines of engineering — from civil engineering to space flight — Engineers includes original drawings and specially commissioned photography to help illuminate the stories behind the great milestones of engineering.
From aqueducts to bridges, monuments to buildings, and engines to motion pictures, Engineers will appeal to readers of all ages who are interested in the power of the pioneering mind.

If you have even the most casual interest in the people who BUILD just about everything important in human history from 3,500 BCE up through the 21st century, you will find this book combines interesting with great fun in the best way possible. The facts are carefully chosen so they are significant, but also highly entertaining and digestible; fantastic photographs and drawings bring everything to life. Even the timelines are lively and easy. This book is superb for a wide variety of ages and interests, either for yourself or as a superb gift. The cover art of Brooklyn Bridge is special: vivid, colorful, tasteful. WOW. I expected to find it educational, & yes: it succeeds as a wonderful panorama of engineers throughout history. But I did not expect also to have such FUN.
