Really shows the social changes that have occurred in the modern workplace since family run businesses, where we are, and the direction we're headed. If you think that only government bureaucracies are dumb, wasteful and innefficient (and they are!), this shows that big corporations can be that way, too. These big retail businesses make so many stupid mistakes, it makes you want to scratch your head and wonder how they stay in business (some of them don't) or why mom and pop retail outlets can't actually beat them on price (and they do in some cases). Meanwhile, just as taxpayers suffer from stupid, wasteful government, workers at these big corporate meat grinders suffer from stupid management that practices "churn and burn" and results in high turnover and all the disappointment and waste that results from that policy. Pretty enlightening book to anyone who manages people and wants to learn some important lessons on what makes motivation and what kills motivation.
