Overview

Entre nosotros / Edition 2

This new one-semester intermediate program is designed to develop all four language skills and enhance students' cultural awareness. It presents a review and expansion of essential grammar that builds on first-year concepts, combined with high-frequency vocabulary, ample practice, and opportunities for meaningful communication. The seven manageable lessons in Entre nosotros explore a variety of topics chosen for their cultural relevance and their success in generating student interaction.

  • The grammar and the active vocabulary of each lesson are introduced in three or four Pasos. Each Paso opens with a dialogue or a text that uses the Paso vocabulary and the grammar in context.
  • Active vocabulary in the Vocabulario section is reinforced throughout the Paso activities.
  • The Estructuras section presents clear and succinct grammar explanations in English along with examples of usage and practice exercises that range from controlled drills to open-ended, personalized, and contextualized activities.
  • Following each Paso, En general sections reinforce and synthesize lesson materials and encourage students to communicate in Spanish.
  • The Lecturas periodísticas section features journalistic readings supported by post-reading activities.
  • The Cruzando fronteras section provides students with rich cultural information about the countries that comprise the Spanish-speaking world.
  • Selections in the Ventana al mundo literario are supported by author biographies and pre-reading activities that activate students' knowledge and post-reading activities that check students' comprehension.Composition topics following each literary work help students improve their writing skills and prompt them to express their own thoughts and ideas.
  • Compruebe cuánto sabe self-tests, appearing after Lessons 3 and 7, provide a cumulative review of lesson materials. An answer key is provided in the appendix for immediate verification.
