The Epigrams were originally written by the author for his four grandchildren, while they were still in undergraduate school at Reed, Brown, Oberlin, and Dartmouth. After their graduation, they were continued for the children's amusement and the author's own pleasure, to reflect the latest findings in the various scientific disciplines. It is hoped that, in their small way, they will contribute to promoting an interest in the sciences by the future generation.
