Escanta is an action packed mission impossible type book. It has you engaged from the beginning. James Thomas works for a high tech security firm. He lives a dangerous life. He is currently being hunted by a group of people calling themselves Escanta. With the help of his "family" he is trying to uncover the root of this group. James is constantly looking over his shoulder. His past has trained him for this type of dangerous work, but it has also cost him and his "family" dearly. He is unable to have a normal romantic life for fear of his future partner's safety. Mak Ashwood is a powerful attorney who is prosecuting a member of the mob. She begins receiving threatening letters. Mak was married when she was young but her husband disappeared thirteen years ago. James and his firm begin to try to protect Mak and uncover who is sending the threatening notes. As he does, he and Mak begin to spend time together and decide that the risks are worth the cost and begin a dating relationship. But the risks to Mak's safety is real and only intensifies if she begins to date James. His past makes him a target. Escanta ends on a cliffhanger so I am eager to read book two. The book is well written and certainly keeps you on the edge of your seat.

The ending was abrupt, didn't have an inkling of what was next.

The storyline is nothing new - bodyguard falls for client - and I just felt no connection with either of the main characters. I actually liked the supporting characters much better. Though it is a cliffhanger, I don't feel a need to continue on in the aeries.

Exciting but need to read the rest because now it kept me hanging! The romance started pretty quickly considering his vow not to get involved. So much about his past we need to know yet.
