“Flora, that’s a beautiful name,” Maxwell stares intently at me, his eyes raking from head to toe then back again, making my feet shuffle and my heart rate explode in my chest. “I think you’ll do nicely for my time here. Remember, Flora, you are mine for the duration of my visit. All mine. After I leave you will get paid and can go on with your life however you see fit.”
Welcome to the world of Blood Courtesans.
Where Vampires are real and blood is a commodity that can give me my means of escape.
Money. Freedom. Escape. That’s my only reason for selling myself, body and blood, to Maxwell Steele, this cold and lethal being before me.
I’ll go to any lengths to escape being a prisoner within a Wolf Pack, including offering myself as a Blood Courtesan to a powerful and deadly Vampire. First I have to escape the Pack, and my Alpha father. Will Maxwell be strong enough to protect me? I hope so: he’s my last hope for freedom and to live life as I want. I pray I’ll survive, and I pray I’ll keep my soul intact. My name is Flora and this is my story.

Loved the characters and the story. Read it in one sitting because it was that good. Get this one.
I love this series of books and this little gem rates right up there. Flora is the put upon, abused and degraded daughter of a local Wolf Alpha. She can't shift and he enjoys coming up with cruel taunts and punishments for her. She finally sees a way to flee by signing up to be a Blood Courtesan. And wouldn't you know her luck, her Vamp is pretty much her new neighbour! Maxwell Steele (previously Forbes) has returned to Scotland after centuries away to settle the estate of his long detested and now not so dearly departed father. He hated him for allowing the evil into their home which killed his mother and turned them into Vampires. His arrangement for feeding whilst at home has all been organised, but he never expected her to turn up at his door on a "borrowed" horse and fleeing like the hounds of hell are at her heels. Flora and Maxwell slowly bond over their time together, but will he throw her back to her pack once his business is concluded or will they have their HEA? Flora and Max are a great couple. Flora is naive, virginal and spunky and has the mouth of a salty seadog! Max has forgotten what it means to be Scottish and it's hilarious as he tried to weather Flora's slang at rapidfire pace! Flora "beloved" father is a total nightmare on legs and lets just say that his fate is bloody, righteous and I must admit I was fair away with bloodlust myself when he meets his punishment. The characters are full bodied and Graham and Isa may have little parts in the story but they are a really neat way of showing Max in another light, he wants no kowtowing and calling him Sir is a no no! Am I biased cos it's set in Scotland and written by a Scots author - you bet your ar$e I am!!! I am LOL at the the thought of my foreign book friends trying to get their tongues around some of the slang in this book. We have lots of words for idiot, dirty and drunk and you'll know more than a few Scottishisms by the end of this book!
Even Vampires do not like abuse, especially towards a family member. There are some that are plain evil, but most have accepted their plot and try to be better than is percieved, although circumstances can sometimes push them over the edge, which is what happen to Maxwell when he discovers Flora's flight from her wolf father. Flora is a half breed daughter of an alpha who's life has been hell since her human mother died and her father claimed her. She is abused by him and the pack. Her only respite is when she works the packs stables of horses. But she wants to escape and is desperate enough that she steals a horse and rides towards an audition for Blood Courtesans, without knowing what she is getting herself into, but willing to do anything. Maxwell is a powerful and bitter vampire returning to his home in Scotland after many years of avoiding seeing the man responsible for his mothers death and their vampirism, his father. He wants no relationship, only sustenance and sex after his long trip from the US to see to his dead fathers estate. But a disheveled and desperate bonie lass riding a horse like the devil is on her heals captures his attention and when he sees no way out for her from her father, he decides to do what he swore never to do. Will the stoic Maxwell lose his dark heart and help Stella escape the clutches of her abusive father without causing an all out war?
