Escaping Heartbreak By Regina Bartley   Rating 4.5 stars This book was wonderful, and had my heart melting for Travis. I loved the feelings this book emits and the many emotions I was feeling while reading it. I fell in love with the characters right from the start.   Sawyer lives with her Uncle Jake after both her parents had died. It has been six years since that horrible night. Her brother Dane, attends college not too far away.    Sawyer is now grown up a little almost 21 and now she wants to move out on her own. Moving to the lake house that her parents owned, she was set to try new things. Dane helps her move, and throws a party. She meets Travis, who she has known her whole life. As she reconnects with Travis, the story begins.   “You wouldn’t like me at all if you remembered who I was.” – Travis   “There aren’t any rules Sawyer. We can do this any way you want to do it. Just as long as we are both in this together.” – Travis     This was a great read, that left me breathless. I loved all of the dynamics with the characters, and hopefully there will be another book about some of the side characters. Regina captures the reader’s heart with the love she writes into her characters. I think everyone will enjoy this book. I only wish the ending was a bit more, I felt it ended too quickly. Travis is definitely worth it.   I felt this book was very well written, and can’t wait to read other titles by this author. She did a very good job at story-telling and bringing her characters to life.

Escaping Heartbreak by Regina Bartley 4.5 out of 5 Stars After five years of fear, guilt, and heartache, Sawyer Evans learns to love and laugh again. She does so with the person who she least expected to waltz into her life, her childhood crush Travis Lawson. Blaming herself for the death of her parents when she was a teenager, Sawyer has shut herself away from any positive emotion involving anyone who isn't family. Sweet, caring Travis is determined to break that pattern and win Sawyer's heart. What he doesn't realize is that he has held her heart from the time she was a young girl.  I love that Bartley gave us a tale of two broken individuals trying to find love and happiness when the world has seemed to be against them from the start. Travis was left at age seventeen to raise his kid brother after his father passed away and his alcoholic mother walked out on them. Talk about growing up quickly!! Not only does he show an insane amount of love and dedication for his brother, Waylon, he also puts the same affection into his journey to capture Sawyer's heart.  While all of this is happening, we also see the turmoil that Sawyer's brother Dane experiences and we get to witness his own coping mechanisms, regardless of their ineffectiveness. Luckily, they both have their uncle Jake to help them find themselves and pick them up when they fall. Even though these two families are very shattered, I love the closeness of the remaining family members and their support of each other, no matter the situation at hand. The only thing that I found lacking in Escaping Heartbreak is that I wish I could have gotten more insight into Sawyer's and Travis' minds and see more of their thoughts. Being a medical professional, I love getting inside the characters' minds and learning what makes them tick. With these two, I noticed that current thoughts and feelings were very well covered but I still would have loved to have more insight into their past experiences. Either way, I love the story and am looking forward to finding out what happens after the epilogue!! *Honest review given in exchange for a complimentary copy.* Meagan, My Secret Book Spot
