About the Author

Sally Hughes - B.Ed.(Hons.) Music
Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music, London -Flute Performance.
Sally's first musical experience was learning the piano from the age of 8. She studied Music (Flute and Piano)at Bath University, England.
She combined instrumental Flute and Piano teaching with class teaching for many years in Bristol, Bath and Bournemouth, England, then Lisbon, Portugal and now Melbourne, Australia, currently concentrating solely on Flute and Piano.
Alongside this has always been performance.
As a pianist she has worked mainly as an accompanist; as a repetiteur and accompanist for theatre productions and accompanying many instrumental and choral performances and instrumental examinations.
She has performed solo flute in England, France and Italy and played in numerous orchestras, concert bands, pit orchestras and chamber groups. She has also played in an Irish folk band, jazz bands and a Brazilian duo.
She has had many different flute teachers and benefited from their wide range of specialisms.
This book is a distillation of her 30 years of flute performing and teaching experience, wishing to pass it on to aspiring flute players with an inquiring mind and a desire to improve.
