Carla's Review: Eternal Captive is the third book in Laura Wright's MARK OF THE VAMPIRE series and the story of Lucian Roman, the youngest of the three Roman brothers. SO much happens in this book that I can't give much detail without giving away spoilers, so I'm just going to give brief details about some events that happened and the characters. Throughout the first two books Lucian is a crude, smart mouthed, sarcastic wise-ass that takes no crap from anyone, including his brothers. Luca does what he pleases and that has not changed at all. He is also very different from his other two brothers. Luca is intended to be the next Breeding Male when he goes into morpho. Once he becomes the Breeding male, he will become a crazed animal that only cares about feeding and mating and will have to be caged for the rest of his existence. Lucian swears that he will die first, before he becomes this monster. Lucian has also become obsessed with Bronwyn Kettler since she fed from him. Although Bronwyn claims she has found her true mate, Lucian will not believe it until he sees her for himself. But Bronwyn is kidnapped before Lucian gets to see her and now he will do anything to find her and save her…..even from himself. Bronwyn Kettler is a vampire genealogist who has done many studies on the previous Breeding Males. After an experience her sister had with a Breeding Male, Bronwyn is terrified of ever being near this creature and determined to never cross paths with him. What will she do when she finds out Lucian, the man who came to save her, is the very creature that she's terrified of? We finally get to meet Nicky's twin, Erion, who we learned about in Eternal Kiss, and boy is he very different from his twin and the other Roman brothers. I can't tell you anymore about him without giving away the story, so you will have to read the book to find out more about him. :-P We also get to meet Synjon Wise, who is the intended mate of Bronwyn Kettler. I thought I would hate Synjon because he was Luca's competition but I ended up totally loving him. I am really looking forward to Synjon's book, but based on the events that unfolded in Eternal Captive, I don't think that's going to be for a while. All I have to say is, poor Synjon!!! L We get to see much more of Gray and Dillon. There is also a HUGE surprise/cliff hanger at the end of the book concerning Gray and Dillon. Holy Crap!! I NEVER saw that one coming!! We meet Lucian's mother, Maidan, and learn the true story of the time she spent with Titus Evictus, the Breeding Male and the father of the three Roman brothers . We also learn the real reason Lucian has so much hatred for his mother. Eternal Captive is my favorite book in the series (so far J). We get to see a side of Lucian that I would have never expected. He was so gentle, loving and even romantic with Bronwyn that many scenes brought tears to my eyes. Bronwyn may be innocent in some ways but she is in no way naïve or week. She does not put up with Lucian's crass attitude and puts him in his place, over and over again. I loved her strong attitude and the fact that she just understands Lucian. It's no secret that I am a HUGE fan girl of Laura Wright's MOTV series. It's always been one of my favorite series. But after reading Eternal Captive, it's now one of my top 3 favorite series. Laura is a brilliant writer that created a new and original world of vampires, addicting characters that stay with you

I truly thought that Laura had a hit with Alexander Roman, she did. Then Nicky's book came along... sad and sexy. I never thought Laura could surpass Nicky's book--Eternal Kiss. I almost didn't want to read Lucian's story... almost... What a mistake that would've been. Lucian's book--Eternal Captive is wicked hot with twist's, turns, and bumps like a roller coaster ride and just as thrilling. I loved, loved, loved this book! Lucian Roman cannot escape his heritage, the heritage passed down from his father, of the Breeding Male. When the veana who fed from him, and somehow remained in his blood, finds her true mate his control is taken to its limit. Lucian is split; kill her, get her out of his system and spend the rest of his undead life in Mondrar, the vampire prison – or take her in every way and succumb to the monster inside of him. Maybe though, after her mating ceremony, the need for her will abate. A paven can hope… Bronwyn Kettler has spent years studying the Breeding Male, hoping to escape the same fate as her sister but one weak moment has forever changed her. Now, even as she goes to her mating ceremony she can’t get the paven, Lucian, out of her head. But someone has other plans for her… Kidnapped by the Beast, Lucian and Bronwyn are sent to the evil Cruen’s alternate reality, and the only way out is to give in to their greatest fears... Holy smokes, I could not put this book down! Eternal Captive grabbed me right from the start and never let go. The story moves at fast pace, the conflict is intense and the characterization is ensnaring. Lucian in the youngest of the Roman brothers and also the bad boy of the trio; arrogant, sometimes rude and sexy as hell with a penchant for talking dirty. *rawr* He has been fighting his attraction for Bronwyn since the first book, Eternal Hunger. But when he finally gives in to his desires the pages burn! *fans self* If you thought Laura Wright wove sexy tales before, well you ain’t seen nothing yet! Wright gives both Lucian and Bronwyn depth and dimension like we’ve never seen before. The ambiance in Luca and Bron’s relationship kept me on the edge of my seat hoping for something good to come out of it all. This loud paven and proper veana compliment each other perfectly. Emotional and intense don’t even begin to describe the plot found within these pages, the story arc explodes and the side story’s of Dillon and Gray, the Beasts and Syn will both break your heart and have you begging for more. The Mark of the Vampire has become a truly addictive series. Action, suspense, twists, turns, romance, sizzling sex, snark and humor are all weaved together with Laura Wright’s entertaining voice and ingenuity makes for a must read in the paranormal romance world. My only minor complaint would be that I was hoping we’d get more into Lucian’s head, towards the end it was more focused on Bronwyn's POV, which was still fantastic and meshed well with the over-all tale but I would of loved to have more of Luca himself. The way the little bits and pieces have come together I would suggest you read Eternal Captive in series reading order and really, why wouldn’t you? The Mark of the Vampire is a must-read series for paranormal romance fans that are looking for a unique and sexy vampire read with hot and intriguing alpha males. I said this with the second book, but it is rare for me to find a series that feature a different couple for each novel and I end up loving each and every one. Usually I can’t get into one or more of the heroines, but this series is impeccable every time! I’m keeping my fingers crossed for Eternal Beast and am looking forward to its release at the end of the summer (August 2012). 4.5/5 Stars

Eternal Captive takes us on an emotional rollercoaster ride. There are so many ups and downs, highs and lows you start to wonder if it will ever end. Will there ever be light at the end of the tunnel. I will admit I was very, very nervous about this book. I was not sure how Laura was going to pull it all off, but she did!! And she did a beautiful job of it. While Eternal Captive was not my favorite book so far in the Mark of the Vampire series *cough Nicky’s*. But I can safely say that Lucian fans will be extremely happy with this book. Eternal Captive introduces us to a new group of characters and opens so many doors in the Mark of the Vampire world. I am very excited to see where Laura takes us with this new group of Roman’s. And since I try hard to keep my review spoiler free but I am dying to give you something. Let me just say that the ending of Eternal Captive surprised the hell out of me… Never ever saw that coming. So can’t wait for Gray’s book Eternal Beast in August.

This series is a little dark, but I really enjoyed the chemistry between the characters and the style of writing. I have bought the entire series and can't wait for the next one to come out.

Wow! I am struggling with words for this book. It was just so awesome; my heart was going a mile a minute for the last fifty pages! Alright, I am going to try and calm down and put my incoherent excited squeals into actually words, haha. So, we are back with the Roman brothers and I will admit that this is the book I have been looking forward to the most. Lucian has always commanded my attention whenever he was mentioned and I could not wait to see what trouble he was going to get into! I started it one night hoping to get about halfway through and I ended up consuming the entire thing in one sitting. I could not do anything else until I read every single word.Onto the characters, let¿s talk about Lucian, shall we? I really liked the other two brothers, Nicky and Alex, but I LOVED Lucian. He is such an obnoxious, arrogant, pompous jerk. You would think those would be bad qualities, but not when it comes to Lucian. He manages to spin those normally negative qualities into something incredibly lovable in spite of his rough demeanor. I don¿t know how Bronwyn resisted him for so long because I know that could not have been easy. Out of the three brothers Lucian¿s journey is the toughest. He is sure he will be the breeding male and that thought terrifies and torments him. My heart broke for him when he thinks he is never going to have love for himself and yet he desperately craves it. Bronwyn is just as tormented trying to guard her heart from someone that will never have a true mate, but fails miserably. It is impossible not to feel for these two and pray that they find a way to be together. The plot in this story was addicting! I was going to read until I found a good stopping point for the night, but that never happened. There is so much going on and so many stories that tie into this one that I could not bear to part with it. So many lives are affected in this book and Laura does an amazing job of developing the characters so you care about what happens to each and every one. Lucian and Bronwyn¿s journey has so many twists and turns that I did not see coming and it kept me on the edge of my seat. There is not a dull moment with the action or the romance and Laura¿s writing just keeps getting better with each book. The secondary plots in this story are equally intriguing. We get to see brief glimpses into the mind of the villain, which I always find fascinating, Synjon, the paven Browyn is set to marry and we get to see what Gray and Dillon have been up too. Synjon is a character I did not expect to like since he is in direct competition with Lucian, but he grew on me as the story progressed. He is a puzzle and has a tragic past that helped me empathize with him. I cannot say too much more about him without spoiling things, but I am desperately hoping we get to see more from him. The way we left him at the end of Eternal Captive was heartbreaking and I would love to see his story develop further. As for Gray and Dillon, wow! There is a huge revelation about her and I am hoping that she and Gray will get their own book so we can see this explored further as well. The only thing that caught me off guard was the ending. It just happened so fast, I did not realize things would wrap up that quickly. I just wanted there to be a little more detail there, but overall the book was still fantastic. It could also be that I was reading so quickly the resolution just snuck up on me. Either way, it did not at all dilute my love for this book.I could keep going on about all the reasons why I love this book, but instead I am just going to tell you to go read it. I dare you to try and read this book without finishing it all at once. I don¿t think it is possible actually, it is just too good. So, what did we learn from this review? Go read this book and if you have not read this series, then go to your bookstore, find Eternal Hunger and start! Or download it to your e-reader immediately! Got it? Good!

Lucian feels he's destine to be a Breeding Male and Breeding Males don't have mates so why has Bronwyn Kettler consumed him? He allowed Bronwyn to drink from him and Lucian is starting to feel a connection to her but Bronwyn is to be mated to Synjon. Lucian decides to wait outside the Veracou Hall, thinking once he sees her with another that the feelings he has will go away but the unexpected happens and he's on the hunt to find the missing Veana. There are so many twist and turns in this book it will keep you glued to your seat. By far my Favorite book in the Mark of the Vampire series. From the beginning of this series I liked Lucian, his witty comments and the take no crap attitude. After reading his book I have completely fallen in love! From the first page this book will take you on a journey of intense lust, heartache and determination. I love how the book ended and I can't wait to read more!
