I can't even begin to write how much I adore this book! The futuristic world is so new and interesting yet frighteningly possible. We are headed towards a world of Efficienist where production is more important than our very own children. I love Eve Pallue and her struggle towards abandoning everything she knows to fight for the truth. The plot line will excite you and the characters will move you. I can't wait until the sequel and to continue the journey with Eve as she struggles to live a life of purpose and meaning!

Eve of Awakening By: Alisa Hope Wagner Alisa Wagner is a fresh, new voice in Christian dystopian futuristic fiction. Even after finishing the story, I can’t get Eve Pallue out of my head. She searches for truth, trying to figure out how who she is, struggling to find her true friends. Everything people today search for, Eve searches for, but in the future where there are no freedoms and everyone follows the same rules, trying to get ahead of everyone else by producing information plugged into their Life Production System (LPS). The more information they produce, the higher their standing. Eve sleeps in a sleeper at night to minimize the amount of sleep she needs and it malfunctions. She has an awakening that causes her to have flashbacks from when she was younger. Eve is an Elite Efficientist. Colonials are lower class. She is the top Efficientist as the daughter of Arthur Pallue, who had groomed her to take this position. If you love futuristic stories you will love this one. Descriptions make everything understandable and believable. I cannot wait to read more by this author. Who is Randall, Eve’s bodyguard? Is he who he seems? The woman Eve starts dreaming about, how does she figure into what is going on? How does God fit in the future? All time is spent producing information; there isn’t extra time for hobbies, religion, or other frivolously spent moments of time. Eve has developed Life Plethoricity, a new way of doing things; music is banned— it causes emotional stimuli, which consumes energy and inhibits efficiency. Eve of Awakening is a great, fun futuristic read. You’ll come to care for Eve and not want her story to end! Along the way, you’ll discover God’s truth and love are not far away.

Eve of Awakening is an enthralling, innovative dystopian story that pulled me in and captivated my attention to the very last page, and then left me wanting more! (I was very excited to learn that the author is working on two more books in the series!) The story is set in a futuristic world so realistic and possible that I easily pictured Eve as she sat at her LPS (Life Production System) and again as she struggled to connect her crumbling present with a past - and people - who are catching up to her and changing the way she views the world. I was amazed at Ms. Wagner's unique imagination and the details woven into the plot that created realistic, memorable characters, as well as how her story shows the man-made gods of technology and efficiency ruling our lives. The author also beautifully portrays how the one true God can't be legislated away or His Word hidden from those with eternity written in their hearts. This book is both an exhilarating, fast-paced read as well as a heralding call that technology and productivity can't replace relationship - with our Creator or with those around us. Eve's journey is tense, emotional, exciting, and strengthened by the author's strong voice and vivid imagination. I highly recommend Eve of Awakening!

Eve of Awakening is a futuristic Christian fiction book set in the United States which is separated by class and ideologies after the Second Civil War.  Eve Pallue is the main character.  This book tells Eve’s story and chronicles her journey and changes in thinking. Eve, an Elite Efficientist is the daughter of Arthur Pallue, the man who helped create Life Efficiency.  Life Efficiency condenses everything down to the barest necessity to get optimal production. Efficientists even sleep in sleepers to reduce the amount of sleep they need each night. Eve’s sleeper malfunctions one night and she suffers an awakening which almost kills her.  This experience sparks the beginning of Eve’s search for answers as she begins to experience flashbacks of a mother she had forgotten and a life that seemed to contradict her belief in Life Efficiency.  Many interesting characters appear throughout this book to assist Eve on her journey.  From Christina who led her to Christ, to Jonah who protected her, to Esther and Deborah who took care of her and nurtured her, there was not a time she needed someone that God didn’t have the right person in place to assist her in her quest for answers and finding out more about her mother. I found myself fascinated by Eve and drawn into her world as she embraced her new life in Christ although it meant leaving behind what many may have seen as an enviable life. Eve’s story has an ending that satisfies my desire for closure and the tying up of loose ends yet leaves me anticipating the next chapter in her journey… Bernadine M.

The only disappointing thing about this book is that I cannot continue reading about Eve's adventures! I was so sad that the book ended. This book was very well written and I loved seeing Eve's transformation. There are so many wonderful aspects to this book. Eve went from not having relationships to creating beautiful relationships with amazing people. Please hurry and write the sequel! :)

If you love futuristic books with strong female characters and a gripping story, you will love this book! The time is after the Second Civil War which resulted in a deep divide of two social classes, the haves and the have nots. The “Colonials” live on the outskirts of the city and are the worker bees of the society while the “Efficientists” are city dwellers tethered to technology and motivated by production. The main character is Eve Pallue, the daughter of the deceased creator of the World Government and founder of Life Efficiency. Eve is the top “Elite” in her society, a position admired by all and envied by her colleagues. Eve she has it all; prestige, wealth, political protection, and an entourage at her beck and call. Until things go terribly wrong. The story is rich with characters and twist and turns as events unfold. Without spoiling the plot, Eve encounter several assassination attempts by both a jealous Elite nemesis and a scorned love interest. She is framed as a traitor to the World Government and eventually hidden by a group of individuals who sacrifice their lives to bring her to a Colony. But the story has just begun as Eve discovers family members hidden from her, friends who heal her body and soul, and a pastor who has a divine revelation that Eve will be the one person who can bring salvation to the Efficientists and unite two societies by revealing the Truth. The ending will keep you on the edge of your seat and have you eager for more. There are several clues that lead to a second book; such as how the Elites might be infiltrated and how Eve’s knowledge of the ”Variety” language might be useful to the Colonist that still talk in “Long English”. Alisa Hope Wagner has created a society that is shockingly realistic and painfully easy to see as our future generation. Don’t miss out on this book!

Very interesting story! As I was reading this, I could imagine its reality! One can place yourself in the characters and how you would react to the events going on! it is rather scary to think this could be an up and coming reality! I really enjoyed how Eve find her faith and the way in which the Colonies world becomes so relevant to her.  Very interesting twist concerning the family ties. I certainly would recommend this book to all and looking forward to the next one as we need to find out more details of what will take place between the two worlds.

Left me wanting more! I hear rumors this will be a series, thankfully! In a world of Christian fiction heavy-laden with 19th century or Amish romance, this book stands out instantly as new and fresh. A dystopic society where Efficienists and Colonials live in two distinct worlds, where Big Brother is ever present, and religion is becoming more and more marginalized. The characters are rich, and the author's imagery is vivid without feeling contrived. Overall, an exciting, refreshing new voice in the world of Christian fiction!
