Overview

An Everlasting Love by Bette Ford

A sexy NFL star reunites with his lost love and finds a family he never knew existed in this exciting new contemporary African American romance.

Brynne Armstrong, a counsellor at a Detroit women's centre, returned to Detroit after an abrupt break-up with her boyfriend Devin Prescott, star NFL quarterback. For the past four years her life has revolved around work and her 3-year-old daughter Shanna, but that changes when Devin suddenly reappears.

Devin is shocked to run into Brynne at a party. His old pain returns as he remembers how Brynne left him without any explanation. But he finally gets his explanation, or at least part of it, when Brynne tells him she left because she was pregnant. What she doesn't tell him is that she became pregnant after being raped, and doesn't know if the baby is Devin's or her attacker's. She has never tried to find out Shanna's father's identity out of fear that it would be the attacker, but now she must know the truth and asks Devin to take a paternity test. They discover that he is the father. Not knowing about her attack, he's furious and hurt that she was cheating on him, and that he missed the first years of his daughter's life. As he spends time with Shanna he feels confused about Brynne. He still loves her but thinks he can't trust her. Brynne also still loves him, but she's never told anyone about her attack. She is afraid of what he will think, or if he'll even believe her. But they know they want to be a family, and that will mean taking risks and learning to trust each other again.

I would reommend any reader of romance to buy this book by Mrs.Ford. You will fall in love with the characters and through her storytelling and very descriptive sex scenes you may cry or laugh. I would like to see a 3rd book from the Prescot family. Maybe with the book beginning with Brynee and Devin getting married. Thank You Bette Ford. Just Wonderful. This is my 8th book written by bette ford and i cant wait until the next one. Bravo!!

...and unfortunately ms. ford does not abide by this. 'an everlasting love' was way to mushy. i have never read a bette ford book before but was intrigued after i read a publisher's review and unfortunately i was highly dissappointed. with the characters being too lovy dovy and the conflicts being too sugar coated this book left a lot to be desired!!

In Detroit, Shepperd¿s Women Crisis Center Counselor Laura Murdock persuades her best friend counselor Brynne Armstrong to come with her to former NBA player Ralph Prescott¿s birthday party. Though she would prefer to spend time with her preschool daughter Shanna, Brynne agrees. St. Louis Rams star quarterback Devin Prescott attends his cousin Ralph¿s party, but is bored until Brynne enters. After only seeing her profile he knows she is the woman he loved four years ago, but she dumped him without a look back. Brynne is stunned to see the man she loved, but ran away from like a coward after he proposed. --- Brynne worries that one day Shanna will want to know about her father; that final night she made love with Devin, but was raped afterward by one of his friends, either could be Shanna¿s sire. Brynne asks Devlin to take a paternity test; he angrily agrees but refuses to listen about the other guy. When the test proves he is the father, Brynne agrees to let him into Shanna¿s life. As a three year old plays matchmaker, her parents realize they still love one another, but he refuses to listen to what happened. --- The latest Prescott family tale is an entertaining romance with a darker yet deeper undercurrent than the previous UNFORGETTABLE novel. Though some readers will insist that Brynne should have turned to her beloved following the rape, others will feel she was over the edge emotionally with the recent deaths of her parents, the fight with Devin, and the rape. All will agree that Bette Ford provides an intense second chance at love story fostered by a precious (perhaps too precocious) little matchmaker--- Harriet Klausner
