Evermark: Beauty from Ashes by Annie B. Carwyn

Based on true events, Evermark shares the moving story of a woman's journey to discover the true meaning of love.

Roselyn thought she had it all - a beautiful family, a comfortable home, and a devoted husband. But life as she knew it in the sleepy 17th century village of Avendale would come to a crushing halt when she discovers her husband's criminal affair. With her husband behind bars, her children to care for, and her reputation shattered, how could she go on? Suddenly alone in a harsh world, Roselyn must decide to flee or abide by the Sacred Writings of old. With invaluable insights into the healing process following a spouse's infidelity, Evermark shares a tale of the hope of redemption. Truly a "beauty from ashes" story, this novel is a must-read for both men and women alike.

"Evermark is a courageous story of God's unrelenting love and grace, especially in the midst of hardship and grief. In the real world of betrayal and sorrow and anger, the majesty and power of sacrificial forgiveness is made all the more beautiful."

-Mike Erre, author and pastor

"A captivating story of restoration and redemption, Evermark shares a woman's courageous choice and journey to remain married following her husband's infidelity. Poignantly written, it clearly illustrates the message of what it means to follow God's will regardless of circumstances. A beautiful story of marriage, family, faith, and unconditional love."

-Doug Fields, speaker, author, consultant

"Evermark” is one of the most powerfully moving and just flat out interesting novels I’ve ever read. I liked it for so many different reasons, first the writing was stellar. The strong word choice and fluid prose makes it a very easy book to sink into and just get lost. There are enough descriptions where you can picture everything perfectly, but not so much that it bogs down the pacing. We really are transported to another time and place…I wish I knew what the characters looked like better though, because some of them I had hard time keeping straight in my mind. I liked that there were things I haven’t seen in other books like this before and it just felt more hauntingly beautiful and gut-wrenching than others I’ve read in this genre. There were some scenes I thought they could have been tightened (or eliminated) in favor of some heightened tension, but overall it kept me hooked. Some unexpected twists (no spoilers) kept me reading late into the evening, and I could almost see this being a TV movie. A must read for Christians and although I think it personally has a wider appeal, it does have a pretty specific message and theme that may not appeal to all faiths. A wonderful novel beginning to end.

"Evermark: Beauty From The Ashes” by Annie B. Carwyn was terrific! Once I started reading I didn’t want to stop until I’d finished the whole thing. It pulls you in right from the beginning, and I enjoyed the author’s “voice” and beautiful style of writing. So atmospheric and lovely, even when describing terrible events. I’d consider this more literary/spiritual than historical fiction. The interweaving plotlines were well-crafted and not predictable, and as a non-Christian, the element of the religious beliefs was a new angle for me, and I feel like it helped open my eyes to things that people actually go though in the name of their faith. It was inspiring and moving, and I won’t soon forget Roselyn and the others. The characters were all interesting in their own right, and fleshed out, and I really appreciated the flawless editing (I notice things like that!). I liked the ending, and thought that this was great book that I’d recommend to all fans of literary, historical, and religious fiction.

warning - when starting this book make sure you don’t have anywhere you need to be or anything you need to do because you won’t want to stop reading until you’ve finished it all!! Trust me on this! The book starts off with a gripping, dramatic and unforgettable beginning and just keeps going strong from there. Roselyn and the other characters were genuine and believable, and I think what I liked the most about this book was just the overall feel the author managed to create where it felt intimate and personal, like a close friend was telling me this really moving story that I didn’t want to stop listening to, no matter how tough things got. Loved the powerful, timeless message throughout, and how Roselyn is able to connect with her faith even when she is tested. I can see fans of Christian fiction eagerly gobbling this one down.

From the opening pages of “Evermark: Beauty From The Ashes” by Annie B. Carwyn I knew it would be different from the books I’ve been reading lately and I was right! To say this is totally unlike anything I’ve ever read before would be an understatement… I’m not sure how to even describe this book as so much happens, and it seems to touch on so many elements, themes, and subjects, mostly about human weakness and finding strength and forgiveness through God. It is presented almost like a nonfiction story as the events are so realistic and based on real people/events, yet it is clearly fiction. Ms. Carwyn sets of the convincing backdrop and characterizations in a skillful way that not only pulls us in mentally, but also elicits an emotional investment on the struggles this family faces and how they overcome. An interesting and very diverse cast of characters, along with several intriguing plotlines interwoven against a fully-realized historical setting based around Scripture and sacrificial love makes this a powerful, memorable read for me. Would love to read more from Annie B. Carwyn in the future!

wow, this book was really inspiring! There was wonderful character development, and the prose and narrative were some of the best I’ve encountered lately – literary and atmospheric and powerful… like the message the whole book imparts. It was an emotional and riveting journey from beginning to end, and Roslyn and Liam make for believable and compelling leads and we root for them through all their trials and tribulations. Relevant, moving, and ultimately inspirational, “Evermark” is a wonderful reminder of God’s love and plan for us all that will appeal probably more for the Christian crowd, but has cross-over appeal as well. Highly recommend!

"Evermark: Beauty From Ashes” by Annie B. Carwyn is one of the most moving and well-crafted novels I’ve read in a long time! I loved the idea that the author created here, putting such a powerful angle on a story that is historical, but based on a true story and with the element of scriptural teachings. I was completely drawn in from the get-go, and absolutely loved the author’s use of description of the different time and the characters, and her attention to Biblical details that really make us a part of this emotional story. Because this is based on historical figures and events it feels like a crossover with fiction/nonfiction… and it totally works! Great writing and characters. Hope to read more from Annie B. Carwyn in the future, and would highly recommend to fans of Inspirational Historical Fiction.

A beautiful story of true LOVE tested by infidelity. A woman's COURAGE to stand and walk with the power of GRACE and FORGIVENESS given by her LORD and SAVIOUR, and be that example for all those to follow. I am reading for the second time now I loved it so much!
