A sexy, fast-paced action and suspense thriller… This is the first book in the Final Hour series that can be read as a standalone. Nine years ago Maddox Kinkade, daughter of a man who worked for the CIA, chose to follow in her father’s footsteps after her life imploded, she’d lost the future she was looking forward to upon the death of the man she loved by a mistake she’d made. Now she works for Gray Box, an off-the-books clandestine team. Intelligence received alerted the group to a bioweapon being sold through a black market auction and Maddox is tasked with turning a man, identified as having the needed contacts to obtain an invitation to the sale, into an asset. She wasn’t told who the man really was and the shock when she learns his true identity is soon accompanied by rage. Living under an alias, Cole Matthews, son of a family involved with the Russian mafia whose father brought his family to America with the intention of going legit, lost his family nine years ago with the exception of his brother due to betrayal by the woman he’d loved. On a forced vacation from Rubicon Security, he finds himself the subject of attention from not just the Russians but said woman who wants his assistance. The two brothers chose different paths, Cole ran away from his past, his brother delved into it and has the invitation to the black market auction that Gray Box requires. Should Cole help them? Maddox had thought Nikolai Reznikov dead and learning he was alive brought back emotional pain she’d thought buried deep, now he’s the needed asset and she’s angry he let her think he was dead. She can hold her own as an operative but at times feels vulnerable and this mission will take everything she has. Still angered at her betrayal Cole can’t deny the emotions he still feels for this woman and he’s not a monster, the mission will save lives. But can they survive each other and stop a madman? This was a sexy, fast-paced action and suspense thriller that opens with a bang and doesn’t let you go. It’s a second chance romance with some enemies to lovers thrown in, their anger was palpable as was the attraction that had never died. Nine years apart and one thinking the other was dead didn’t destroy their love. The protagonists had much baggage to work through but the kind of connection they had was worth it. Nothing was a given, they had to battle it out while completing a mission and it was an intense and incendiary process that made for an interesting story. This was the first time reading this author and I was impressed, this lover of romantic suspense was quite satisfied with the intricacy of the storyline, the level of intrigue, the surprising twists and turns, the depth of the characters and the intense emotions. I look forward to the next book in this series. An advanced reading copy was obtained from the publisher via NetGalley.

Be prepared not to be able to put this book down, read well into the night, and be blown away by Juno Rushdan’s Every Last Breath ( Final Hour #1). This is the first book by this author that I have read, and I am looking forward to reading more of her books. Every Last Breath is the first book in the up-and-coming new series, Final Hour. Every Last Breath is perfectly balanced with intense nonstop action, a plot thick with intrigue and suspense, woven with deception and betrayal, where loyalties will be tested and of course heart-pounding romance. I was surprisingly delighted that the thriller aspect and the bioterrorist plot is not overrun by the romance but perfectly intertwined in this book. This book was well written, paid attention to detail, and the main characters and the secondary characters were all well developed. I loved the vast range of dialogue between Maddox and Cole; it is barbed, hurtful, soft and caring and intensely hot and steamy. I loved Maddox, and I found her to be smart, bold, loyal and every bit as kickass as the men that surrounded her without losing her soft feminine side. Cole is the son of a Russian crime boss, and he is the epitome of the alpha male, intelligent, determined and incredibly hot. However, he too is struggling with his demons from the past. Our two main characters Maddox and Cole have a tangled past, things between them are tainted, broken and complicated. They haven't seen each other in nine years, and then they are thrown together by circumstances that are out of their control, to work together, to bring down a madman who is hell-bent on taking his revenge out on the United States by way of a biological weapon. I don't want to reveal too much of the storyline; therefore I will stop here. Usually, I don't like to compare authors, but in my humble opinion I feel that Ms.Rushdan has earned her self a top spot in the thriller genre right alongside the “big boys.” This book will keep you reading to the very last page and then dangle you right on the edge of the proverbial book cliff, setting you up for the next book in the series. I for one am looking forward to reading the next book in this series, Nothing to Fear, due to be published late August 2019. I know that if you give this book a chance, it will take you on a wild thrill ride you will not soon forget. ***I kindly received this galley by way of NetGalley/publisher/author. I was not contacted, asked or required to leave a review. I received no compensation, financial or otherwise. I have voluntarily read this book, and this review is my honest opinion .***

Wow`! My first book by Juno Rushdan and definitely will not be my last. I read it in one sitting. Fast paced, strong but vulnerable, both Maddox and Cole, such a win - win. Mystery, action, suspense, covert ops, espionage and love. This book checked all my boxes. It took me away on a wild ride and I didn't want to get off. Next please! Thank you Sourcebook Casablanca Publishing and thank you Juno Rushdan. A new favorite author. All thoughts and opinions are my own and were unsolicited.

Maddox has worked hard for her position and to gain the respect of her fellow officers at the Box. That's why she wasn't surprised when she was tagged to be lead a priority op after not even being back stateside for three hours. She had to develop a plan to beat the Russians to the targeted asset and convince him to help with the op to prevent the sale and release of a deadly virus. But she never expected to come face to face with a man she believed had been dead for nearly a decade. Cole was on a forced vacation and hating it. He also sensed trouble brewing and it didn't take long for it to arrive. Suddenly he was surrounded and trying to fight his way out and then he was waking up restrained and looking at the woman he'd being trying to forget for almost a decade. Maddox and Cole have to figure out a way to work through the hurt and the lingering attraction between them to identify the individual planning the deadly attack and his intended target. Can they learn to trust each other in time to save thousands of lives?

AMAZING START TO NEW SERIES I read a lot of romantic suspense and thrillers, but this was my first TRUE romantic thriller. Usually when a book is hyped as a "romantic thriller" it is a trumped up romantic suspense that falls flat and disappoints me. This had fantastic spy intrigue, lots of gritty action, and a romance with substance. I LOVED this and will be reading the rest of the series from this author.

Maddox works for a special government unit and is just a capable of holding her own as the guys. When her unit gets wind of a plot of a lethal bioweapon, her unit is sent to stop this from happening. When Maddox is sent to meet a man to get help from him preventing this disaster, she had no idea whe would be coming face to face with the love of her life, who was presumed dead, Cole. The story is not only about stoping the bioweapon but it was also about how Maddox and Cole now have a second chance...will they make it work? I couldn't read this fast enough--there was suspense, passionate and redemptive. I'd never heard of this author before but look forward to more books--this was book one of the Final Hour series. I highly recommend!!! Thank you NetGalley for an e-ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Wow! This is romantic suspense at its best. The drama and super-secret spy thriller is on par with the likes of Catherine Coulter with a hearty dose of second chance romance at its best. I can’t wait for more from this author.

Steamy, Sexy and Suspenseful!!!! All wrapped up together. Holy Electricity Batman! This book is red hot! I wasn't quite sure how I would like a romantic suspense novel, but this totally worked for me. The electricity and heat between Maddox and Cole just sparks off the page. I was completely drawn into their story and invested in what was going to happen with them and their relationship. At the same time you have this crazy madman running around the city with a bioterrorism weapon trying to annihilate America. It's like The Notebook and The Avenger's Infinity Wars got together and had a baby, and that baby was this book. I loved it. Super hot romance on one page and total butt kicking, not getting away with it in my house on the next. I could not put this book down. And this brings a whole new light to a genre I didn't even know existed. You have twist and turns and intrigue and too hot to touch passion that leaves you ready for more. It's explosive! Did I mention that I could not put this book down??? This book was such a rush and it checked all the boxes for me! Oh, and the cliffhanger at the end..... Oh boy!! How fast can Juno Rushdan write the next book in this series?? I will be first in line to read it. Every Last Breath took my breath away! My thanks to Juno Rushdan, Sourcebooks Casablanca Publishing and Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The beginning of Every Last Breath by Juno Rushdan got bogged down with the introduction of all the characters, but started to become fast paced about the middle of the second chapter. Rushdan puts a lot of detail into the character development. There is a lot going on in this book. And even though the main story is wrapped up at the end of this book, there is still a thread that leads into the second book in the series, NOTHING TO FEAR. I will definitely be back for book two. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.

4/5 stars Maddox, an operations officer, has to convince her ex-fiancé Cole to work with her and her team in order to recover a bioweapon. It might not be so easy with all the history between them and the fact that Cole's been presumed dead for years! However, they'll have to try put aside their history and feelings in order to locate the bioweapon and prevent a deadly attack within the next 48 hours. I was pleasantly surprised with how much I liked this romantic thriller! There was so much action in this story and I don't just mean the steamy kind! This story has twice as much action and thrills than a normal romance. The operations were realistic, intense and detailed without being overly descriptive. The other action between Cole and Maddox was just as intense. I loved reading scenes with them as they worked through their past. The sexual scenes were so steamy! Everything from the characters to the detailed operations felt amazingly real in this story. I was also surprised that there was a tiny element of mystery in this story as well. There were several points of view with one being the assassin's story told in a brief chapter in between Maddox and Cole's chapters. It definitely kept the story flowing hearing the villain's perspective here and there. The story overall was evenly balanced between the characters lives and the operations. There was definitely intense scenes in both which I absolutely loved! Not only were the operation scenes well written, but the character's interactions were also written very well. The family and work family dynamics felt completely realistic and well written regarding Maddox and her brother, Maddox and Cole, Cole and his brother and between the whole team. Maddox's team felt natural as if they have been doing this together for years. I hope to see more from the rest of the team in the upcoming book! This story was a fast paced, action-packed romantic ride and I can't wait to read the next books in this series! Thank you so much to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for allowing me to read this amazing ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book starts with a bang from the beginning, literally. And the action never stops. Action-packed, heart pounding, thrilling, those are not cliches when it comes to this book. These are accurate descriptions of what you will feel while reading this book. The writing is superb and I felt like I was in the moment every step of the way. The rapid fire style of writing keeps you interested and doesn't let up. Even the quieter moments have an underlying anticipation about them, that something is about to happen. I look forward to the rest of this series. ARC received from NetGalley for an honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley and to Sourcebooks Casa for allowing me to read this novel in exchange for my honest review. We are avid James Bonds fans in my household; therefore, any book that is hailed as being Bond-ish (That's James Bond, to differentiate from any E. L. James fans) has my immediate attention and interest. Replace the British sexpot with an American femme fatale secret agent—I’m sorry, femme fatale operations officer—and you have a novel featuring a badass heroine. This romantic suspense is the whole package for me. Family drama? Check. (Can you say protective-older-brother-who-is-also-her-superior?) Fast-paced, action-packed badassery? Also check. Emotionally laden, sexily scintillating chemistry? Double check, and then some. I love series like this whose secondary characters support and enhance the plot line, urging you to get to know them through the novel and each subsequent one after. I want to go hang out at a bar with Maddox's team. Director Bruce Sanborn (the Black Ops Whisperer), the mountain of muscle Castle Kinkade (hey, bro!), Gideon "Reaper" Stone, John Reece, Alistair Allen, and Sean "Ares" Whitlock, these are the guys you hope are protecting our country in real life. The more you learn about the Gray Box operators and analysts, the more you want to consider a career in espionage. Aleksander Novak is sinister, but his backstory makes his character complex and interesting amidst all of his depravity. Overall, I thought him very well developed. There was only one instance that I thought something he did belied the picture I had of him in my head—which jolted me out of the story for a moment—but he's a villain worthy of Ian Fleming. Juno Rushdan is quick to jump right into the story, which I love. The book is full of fun action puns and entertaining metaphors. One of my favorites was, "He'd been a moth drawn to a blowtorch." I don't want to give anything away about the ending, but I will say that I appreciate the fact that Maddox didn't need a man to save her. She fights smart, the action scenes feel realistic (and practically tangible, they're written so well), and I love that she exhibits physicality without unrealistic machismo. She uses her strength and grit and intelligence as a woman would, she relies on her team as a great leader would, and she handles her business! Maddox Kinkade is a character I won't soon be forgetting anytime soon. As far as warnings go, readers should be aware of the adult language and explicit sexual scenes. The sequel, Nothing to Fear, is set to be published in August of this year, and I cannot wait. Check out Every Last Breath to find out why this series (and this debuting author) will soon be gracing my shelf of honor. I mean, 5 stars? Nothing. This baby's gettin' 5 ninja stars! Juno Rushdan has just been added to my list of favorite romantic suspense series writers. P.S. Does anyone know where I can get a steel prayer bead necklace? Thanks in advance.

Romantic suspense books are not usually my cup of tea, so I was pleasantly surprised by this novel. With an exciting plot and an array of intriguing characters, this was a good read. Here’s a quick rundown of the plot: Maddox Kinkade is an officer in a super secret government agency who is tasked with neutralizing the risk of a lethal bioweapon. Ten years ago, her whole life fell apart because of one mistake and she has had to live with the guilt of indirectly causing the death of her lover (Cole) since then. However, it turns out that he is still alive and is a very important asset to this operation. So now Maddox must try to a save the world while dealing with their emotional baggage. Maddox is a badass heroine who is intelligent, determined, even ruthless when she has to be, yet also vulnerable. Her love interest respects her choices and supports her in every possible way (a nice change from the misogynistic portrayals of love that still appear too often in the media). The main antagonist and his sorrow and revenge tale were also very interesting: “His grief gave him strength, his sorrow fortified his resolve to never stop until he got payback.” For an almost 500 pages long book, the pace was excellent: it never felt like the story was dragging – there was nonstop action - and I was really invested in the events that were taking place. If this was just a suspense novel, I probably would have given it 4 stars: even though I usually love second chance romances, this one let me down. Without spoiling anything, I can only say that everything felt a little too rushed in the romance department. I’m a very picky reader when it comes to writing, and while the writing style felt exactly right for a thriller most of the time there was a point in the novel when the description of the characters emotions and feelings became irritating – too repetitive and unnecessary for my taste. Furthermore, annoying metaphors and constant clichés such as “Made her want to slap him and kiss him and crawl all over him like a cat against a scratching post” or “He was under her skin, stamped on her soul, branded on her heart” were used throughout the novel… Once again, not my cup of tea. Overall, this was a nice read and I’m definitely interested in reading the author’s next novel! Final rating: 3.5 stars I received an ARC via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

background is the reason why this story will keep readers needing more and loving every second they spend reading this romantic suspense. I love discovering new-to-me authors who can deliver the goods as Juno Rushdan does in Every Last Breath. This book is an intense, explosive Second-Chance Romance Thriller that begins with a bang and never lets up. Maddox Kinkade is an expert undercover operative for the Gray Box Black Op Unit on covert assignment to defuse a threat by a group hellbent on releasing a lethal bioweapon upon the innocent masses. Maddox made a huge mistake nine years ago when she unknowingly betrayed the trust of the love of her life . . . a mistake that cost him, Cole Matthews, everything including the life of his father as well as his own life. Or did it? When Maddox is ordered to meet a man and solicit his help in preventing the ultimate disaster, she is shocked to come face to face with the presumed dead love of her life. Where has he been for nine years? As shocked as Maddox is, Cole is just as surprised and angry as he's never forgiven his former lover's betrayal. As the clock is ticking and time is running out, these two professionals must let bygones be bygones and work together someway, somehow. Meantime, they're walking a fine line between love and hate because the one thing they haven't lost is the explosive chemistry sparking between them. Can they keep it together long enough to save the world from a madman? Take a breather before you start Every Last Breath because you won't get another one until you finish! This book packs a wallop in every way - nonstop action, explosive scenes, espionage, sizzling passion - all well-written and expertly woven into plot lines that had me burning through the pages. I enjoyed the strong support cast and would love to see more of these characters. I also liked that the author managed to make me feel a little empathy for the villain, and that's not easy to do! While most things are resolved in this book, I like that there's an ongoing story arc that I assume we'll explore more of in coming books in the Final Hours series. Every Last Breath is an emotional, second-chance romance thriller that kept me riveted to the pages and my seat all the way through. Grab this one and read it the first chance you get as it's A Must Read!

I think this one may just be a case of not the book for me, or maybe I just wasn't in the right mood for this genre, but I had the hardest time getting into this story. I think some of the problem lay in the writing style and cutesy ways of describing things because that certainly wore thin for me. There really weren't any serious lag times in the book despite its length. In fact, it's packed full of action and what should've been an edge of your seat plot. I did find the character development lacking, especially on the relationship front. It felt like most of the angst there took place in the character's heads rather than anything actually being hashed out between them. This one does have unanswered questions in the end, so maybe there will be more character development in upcoming books, but I think I'll pass given my feelings for this one.

Juno Rushdan is a new author, and since I love romantic suspense, I had to give Every Last Breath a try. Especially since she’s a former Air Force active duty member. As the wife of a retired Air Force airman, I try really hard to support fellow military spouses and active duty members that write novels. At least romance novels. (Other genres just don’t interest me, I’m sorry to say.) So I thought I’d give this new author a try. And let me tell you...I’m now anxiously awaiting the next 2 books in this series! There were parts of the plot that got a little confusing, but in the end, it was just a really good read! Romantic suspense is my great love. The deeper the intrigue and the more twists and turns, the more I love the story. And this one had them all in spades. It’s a longer novel, but it was very fast-paced, and I found myself up way too late because I could NOT put this sucker down. For lovers of contemporary romantic suspense, you’re going to love this book. It’s also a second chance romance, and that’s also one of my favorite tropes. Now...I’m not so patiently waiting on book two! NICUnurse’s Rating: I give Every Last Breath by Juno Rushdan 4.5 stars!

Intense romantic thriller…On a retrieval mission, Maddox is shocked to discover that Cole, the man that she loved nine years ago, is still alive. Now Cole is the key to information that can stop a pandemic. Both Maddox and Cole have feelings of betrayal, but they need to work together to stop the release of the virus. This is the start of a very suspenseful book. I received a free copy of this book from the publisher through Netgallery. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. This book is an intense romantic thriller that you don't want to miss. I really liked this book and didn't want to put it down. The action is almost non-stop. I recommend this book.

I was intrigued by the author's background as a former U.S. Air Force Intelligence Officer. Would bring such amazing real-life experience to this book and she certainly delivered it. Every scene was well though out, I love the strong kickass heroine in Maddox, and it was a unique plot. Will definitely read more from Juno.

2.5 Stars At almost 500 pages this is one long romantic suspense novel. The thrills were good- a new smallpox virus being sold to the highest bidder and possibly to be released in DC- but the romance left me wanting. For as much introspection that happened in Maddox’s and Cole’s head, not a lot went on as far as talking out and resolving their past. One minute they are hurt and angry over things that had happened and the next they are ready to re-profess their love. There’s an underlying mystery that doesn’t get resolved by the end gearing up for a good start to the next book. I received an advanced copy through Netgalley in return for an honest review.
