Overview

Every Rose by Lynetta Halat

What do you do when you realize you were foolish enough to throw away true, unconditional love?

Lorraina Dabney turns her back on her creativity and tumultuous upbringing to embark on a college career that will lead her to law school and to becoming what she values most in life-a controlled, powerful, respected woman. When she stumbles upon her childhood friend's artwork, she feels inspired to reconnect with him and her former self. This onslaught of emotion will send Lorraina into a tale-spin to figure out exactly why she abandoned all that she was, all that she could've been.

Coming from his own chaotic upbringing, Michael falls quickly and deeply in love with Lorraina at a tender age. Even her rejection can't stand in the way of his obsession. When she starts to date other boys, however, Michael finally relents, causing him to spiral further into a world filled with violence, drugs, alcohol, and women. Realizing his lifestyle will only lead to his further estrangement from Lorraina, Michael sets about to turn himself around before going to get his girl.

Michael Bang will have Lorraina questioning everything.

A beautiful, emotional ride from Lynetta Halat!  When I first started reading this Michael came across as a bit of a stalker but as you get to know him you see that it is nothing like that. Thank goodness lol                "I have your initials tattooed on my arm. I have your face tattooed in my brain. I have your soul tattooed in my heart" This story by Lynetta Halat is a beautiful touching tale of long lost love and how time can heal old wounds and create new ones. I wasn't sure what to expect when I grabbed this one but having read some of her other books I knew she had a way with words and I would not be disappointed. I really liked the way we are introduced to the characters and their history. It isn't out there all at the beginning, it comes in slow pieces and the book travels from present to past and back again explaining all the details we need to piece together the story.  The characters are terrific and Michael is beautiful. Even with a dark past he brings to light an amazing voice and personality as he gets older. This story is beautiful, loving, sweet and tragic and will take you on an emotional roller coaster. You'll love every minute of the ride :)

The only word that comes to mind is BITTERSWEET! You feel every emotion possible with each word you read. I loved the past and present mixed together to give you more depth into the story. Life isn't always clear and never easy and you can feel that throughout this story. It will take you through some very difficult peaks and valleys and just when you think you can't take anymore...you get relief! I usually need the HEA ending but my heart was healed with the one I got at the end of the book. Read with an open-heart and soul and you won't be disappointed. "Faith isn't the absence of fear, Lorraina. It's trusting despite the fear."

Wow let me start by saying this book isn't going to be for everyone and the only way to describe it is being bittersweet. The next thing I'm gonna say is I do not think I've cried this hard since reading Taking Chances and Stealing Harper by Molly McAdams. I've read quite a few books and not many pull me in so hard that I actually cry through the last part of the book off and on. I felt like I stopped and the next thing I knew more tears would start. Seriously two thumbs way up for Lynetta Halat.  Michael and Lorraina's story is filled with so many twists and turns and it doesn't stop. What appeals me so much about this story is you dont see them coming. There are moments of complete happiness and heart warming moments then the next minute tears and heartbreak. Michael is an outcast but knows he wants to be with Lorraina since he was 15. Lorraina is afraid of the intensity of Michael and throughout high school knows he's her best friend.  It's an awesome story and I recommend it to anyone who likes a story that isn't like everything else.

At first, I was thinking that the story wasnt that interesting. I'm so glad that I kept reading and was totally surprised by the turn of events. I understand now that you we're explaining experiences of your own during a traumatic event. Life isn't always good, happy, or roses all the time. Sometimes the unexpected happens and we have to deal with the cards that we're dealt to us. Loved this book and Lorraine and Michaels story. Great Read!

Broken hearted! Those two words are what I would use to best describe Every Rose. I have never cried so much in my life while reading a book. Every Rose, had me so heart broken and emotionally exhausted, but yet I wasn’t able to stop reading. A true love story that is unique and genuine that ends in a tragic way. The story at first started out a little on the slow side, but then I was totally blown away. The characters were all so wonderfully written with such an incredible dialogue you couldn’t help but to be completely immersed into the story. So if you’re looking for a beautiful yet somewhat haunting love story, I recommend reading Every Rose. Just beware; it’s a real tearjerker, but in the end it’s worth the read.

I give this 2 stars because it doesn't have a HEA. It broke my heart. I loved the book up to a point and then I cried my eyes out. I wish there was a different ending and something to more to the ending. A HAE would have been so much better, those to deserved it!

WOW!!!!!!!! This rates well over a five!!! POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT!! I will do my best not to give anything away. Lynette Halat is an Author to follow her work was amazing!!!!! The way she told this story will have you laughing, sad, angry and sobbing I love a book with so much emotion from the author. One that makes you feel you are living the story! Michael will have you swooning he has so much passion and love for Lorraina and for life you can't help but fall in love with his character. Lorraina will have you screaming at her to look what's staring her in the face. But then loving her for the love and passion she finally lets herself open up to. When Michael and Lorraina finally find their way back to each other they will have you wrapped up in their love and passion for each other. Until tragedy strikes and you will find yourself spiraling, my heart went out to Lorraina hoping that she will find her way back once again..... Please tell me this isn't the end of this story!! I need more! =)

Every Rose I don't even know where to start. First let me say that I won this book in a giveaway and the author asked me to leave a review for her. So, I loved the romance between Lorraina and Michael. I loved reading about their past, how they met and what they all went through to finally be together. I was smiling and laughing along with them throughout the story, until BAM, at 78% of the book, the bottom dropped out. I literally cried for the rest of the story. I am even tearing up while writing this review. I finished it 2 days ago and it took me this long to be able to write it. This book brought out so much emotion in me. That is one thing that makes a good book. So, why did I only give it 4 stars you ask? I do not like what happened to Michael. I do not like books that do not have HEA's. Do I recommend you read it? Yes, if this does not bother you. Like I said, it was a good book, very deep and emotional. The things they did to keep a connection with each other was beautiful. I would not mind reading another book by this author, only if it has an HEA. I do like that at the end, Lorraina was finally being able to put her life back together. I think I would have liked a little more and maybe an epilogue. I will watch for more Lynetta Halat.

Such a touching story. I fell for Michael right along with Lorraina. I was really surprised with the flow of this book. At first I was worried it was going to be like every other book out there. Boy was I wrong. I loved how we got to see the various stages of their past. It showed how each character grew in order for them to end up together. Both had to make changes to who they were and how they reacted in varying situations. I wasn't happy with the sneaking around part, but I understood based on the flashbacks. I spent the last part of the book in tears. I wasn't expecting that ending, but am happy none the less. If the events hadn't happened I don't believe Lorraina would have ended up where she was, not only as a oerson but also as a student. After finishing the book, I went to the authors site and read the epilogue. I now understand why things had to happen the way they did. This was a very touching story and we may not have gotten the HAE we have come to expect in books, but this story touched my heart.

Star Rating: 3.5 out of 5 Heat Rating: Mild I finished reading Every Rose a few days ago and I have been staring at my computer screen trying to figure out how I am going to review this story, without over-sharing and without tearing up while doing this emotional (and slightly religious) book justice.  Here is my attempt: Every Rose was not the story I was expecting to read when I picked this up a few weeks ago.  I was assumed this was an angst filled story about two friends who were recovering from terrible pasts, finally reuniting and becoming lovers.  Well, I assumed wrong! (You know what they say about assuming...)  Every Rose took me by surprise and left me gutted,  Michael and Lorraina's journey from being best friends as teenagers to falling in love as young adults was an unexpected and enjoyable book (not ansty or drama-filled chaos at all)   The first part of the story is written going back and forth into the past as Lorraina journals her time and past friendship with Michael while also showing the reader the present as Michael and Lorraina reconnect after many years apart.  This was an interesting way for us to get to know Michael as a character, but I would have loved a Michael POV or journaling in the beginning (I would have liked to get into his head and hear his thoughts at several point in the story really).   Every Rose was written beautifully, giving the reader a chance to fall in love along with the characters, while the story flowed in a natural way that was easy to get lost in.  Michael and Lorraina kept their relationship a secret so the reader gets wrapped up in their new found love and everything else drops away.  The story focuses on the main characters and their lives, never allowing secondary characters to take over or get in the way (really we don't get introduced to other characters which was a nice change for their not to be a quirky best friend ready for a book 2 spin off) If you are looking for a sweet, coming together of old friends who always wanted more you are in for a treat with Michael and Lorraina.  You will fall in love, have your heart broken and find yourself left at the end not wanting to let go of this story, it will haunt you for days afterward.  Grab a box of Kleenex and find a comfortable place to sit, because once you start reading you won't be able to stop until it is all over.  (BONUS:  on Friday 6/28 Lynetta Halat is releasing an epilogue and bonus scene for this book, I got to read it early and trust me it isn't to be missed)

Immerse yourself in the wonderful love story of Lorraina and Michael. This story which is written with such grace takes you on a journey that you hold within your heart and mind long after you have read the words The End. Michael knows exactly what and who he wants at a very young age and that is Lorraina. Lorraina dreams of true love but is not sure that dream includes Michael. Family expectations and obligations should keep Lorriana and Michael apart but a friendship forms. A friendship that is built on trust, faith and of course love. As the years pass their friendship is tested and eventually the bonds are broken. The question is what will it take to bring these two people back together to see if what they felt when they were younger is real. The characters in this book are written with such truth they will seem like people know. The transition from teen years to young adult is written in such a natural ease you feel like you have grown up besides them. This is a raw and authentic look at how one person can love with such devotion and intensity. It is also a wonderful insight into having someone deny themselves something they have wanted for so long. It is an intense journey that exposes people’s flaws, their self worth and self doubt. It provides insight into what a person is willing to do to obtain the one thing they know will complete their life and make it worth living. It is a story that shows us that sometimes being happy and feeling loved is worth every obstacle and stumbling block that is placed in its path. Written with a unique twist we read the story of Lorraina and Michael from the present day and within the pages of a journal. Some of the entries are old and some are written as memories occur. I believe this is one of many elements that make this book such a treasure. If you believe in friendship, love and faith this is a story that will seep into your soul, wrap around your heart and live within your mind. As much as I loved this story I must add the paragraph after the words The End made me gasp. I applaud the author for including this in the book. For me at least it added so much to the story and the beautiful words that will live within me for a very long time. Whatever you do don’t peek ahead savor the words, feel the emotions and let yourself escape into the wonderful love story of Lorraina and Michael.

I really had high hopes for this book; unfortunately, the characters were stale and the writing was very awkward. SPOILER ALERT: I think the hardest thing for me to get through the book was teh fact that the book was centered around a soon-to-be college graduate and a mid-twenties aged male lead, but they spoke and behaved like junior high/high school aged characters. Most of the story was predictable, which I usually don't mind, but this one felt like the emotions were just too forced and you really do know the ending within the first 50 pages. I certainly would have enjoyed the book more if there were more surprises instead of the almost cliche tragic ending.

Well written and a real page turner--This was a great read with characters you root for, and I fell deeply in love with both of them. It is a bittersweet tale of love and loss and not for the faint of heart. Reminded me a little of A Walk to Remember.  For only .99, you won't be disappointed!

I wanted to read this book because I read some reviews that said there wasn't a HEA. In my opinion, that is false. Just because she may not have her HEA with Michael doesn't mean that she didn't work through all the hurt and realize her future. This constituted a happy ending to me. The tragedies are sometimes the most beautiful stories. Some conclusions had to be drawn to round out the story, but all in all, a good read.

I have to agree with the bittersweet comment. Great book I fell in love with the characters and their journey. Such a heartfelt story. This book is not for the faint of heart.
