Wikipedia articles are often long and boring. This book gets right to the point in an entertaining way, with quizzes to keep you on your toes. Who knew that Albert Schweitzer studied with Bach or that President Garfield had a new proof of the Pythagorean theorem? Or that Adam Smith warned that the cost of maintaining the American colonies was not worth the time and effort? If you know everything in this book, you've got a great education. If you just read your favorite subject, you're inspired to go further.
I would have written this earlier if I could have put this book down sooner. "Everything 101" has everything you may want to know and can remember. Lisa Sonne is a wise woman and lucid writer who has done a wonderful job of seeing to it that we all sound a little smarter. Did you know.? (there isn't room)
A brilliant collection of the essential pieces of knowledge in a fun and interesting writing style. My 16 year old son also loved it!
What an enchanting collection of trivia and not-so-trivial information! Some sections I've read in one sitting. Others seem meant to pick up and peruse at random. Is it too late to change my major and sign up for the rest of the Everything course line?
