Born in Sleepy Hallow in the latter half of the twentieth century, Porto, the oldest in his family, was destined for greatness. Unfortunately, he took a fork in the road and was knifed in the process. He has not had trust in cutlery since. His childhood was on the Jersey Shore, the rest of his life was not. Due to an undiagnosed neurological disability, he has a warped body, warped mind, and warped perspective on life. He hopes you'll enjoy it.

Ex-Monk is a collection of short works by the incomparable James Porto. The pieces range from his humor column written in the 80s to his recent work. I've been a fan for many years and it was good to read some of the old classics again. Most of his pieces are hilarious, some are uplifting, and some are deeply personal and touching. All are glimpses into the twisted world of James Porto.
