An Englishman's experiences, including marriage and starting a family, in the former colony of British Honduras. Also in Guatemala, still at odds with Britain over the colony's sovereignty. Leaving roots there and moving to the Mosquito Coast of Nicaragua and introduced to flying a tail dragger. After six eventful years there and an assignment in El Salvador during an uprising, establishing the family in Honduras. A period of two years commuting weekly from there to the mountainous region of Nicaragua bordering Honduras where the Sandinistas were beginning an insurgency to overthrow Somoza. Later an assignment in Nicaragua then with a Sandinista government. After twenty-four years in Central America established the family in southeast Texas. Maintained contact with the now independent Belize. Continued to live and work overseas for varying periods, now mostly in the different environment of Asia. Experiences in Burma, Vietnam and India have been included.
Mike Hancock was born, raised and educated in Britain. He then went to British Honduras as a forest officer. He settled there before being employed by the FAO of the UN as a forestry adviser and working in various countries. He is currently a licensed real estate broker in Texas.
