Overview

CJ
I'm so sick and tired of the world. All the sh*t that goes on, I just can't take. Cannot take. So, yeah, I've been hiding for the last six months. Haven't left the house. Thank god Scarlett is there to take care of me, because if she weren't....I'd probably be dead by now.

I finally do leave the house, and what happens? Asher, that's what happens. Super wealthy, hotter than the surface of hell, with the grace of a jungle cat. I could just imagine what he would be like in bed. But he's dangerous. I can see it in his eyes. And he's definitely hiding something. Definitely.

Why can't I resist him? He's the one my mother would have told me about. If I had a sane mother, that is.

All I know is that his lips say trouble, but his body makes mine weep.

ASHER

I need a woman, and I need one right now. My crazy stalker ex-girlfriend won't leave me alone, so I need a woman to pose as my fiancee so that crazy bitch will finally give up.

CJ seems like she's game. She's right for me, too, because she won't ask too many questions. If she starts asking questions, then she'll know how many men I've killed. I can't have that.

As long as she doesn't get too close to the truth, we can get along. But if she learns the truth, all bets are off. And that would be too bad, because she's sexy as hell. I've been running, though, and I have to keep running. Because if the world knew the truth about me, I'd be done.

CJ was a photographer who used to go after celebrities and make a lot of money. Then after the death of her four year old brother she did not leave her apartment for six months. At that time she is out of money and has no choice. But when she does leave she has a panic attack and passes out. When she comes to she in an unfamiliar penthouse. She does start to panic again but Asher seems to be able to calm her. Asher has a stalker ex girlfriend and maybe CJ can help. Well I liked this story to a degree. First off it ended in a cliffhanger and I am really getting to hate that as more and more stories are ending that way. The story is really unrealistic how can you wake up in a strange place you would not be calmed down by said stranger , not in today's world. I do like the Cinderella aspect of the story. The story was pretty good for the most part I did like the characters . So all and all not the worst story I have read I received an ARC of this story for an honest review. I find myself wanting to slap my own hands as I type this review. Can you say a touch of writer’s block mixed with the temptation to blurt out spoilers? Guess that is why Annie is the author and I’m the reviewer. She did an excellent job at teasing out the reasons for CJ’s bout of agoraphobia. While at times I wanted to say “come on tell me what's’ going on already,” the reality is that CJ couldn’t emotionally and mentally deal with the tragedy and cause of her mental illness. Ms. Jocoby showed that in her pacing and sporadic forays into CJ’s past. Slowly, but surely you get to the root of the problem and CJ is left to deal with things and learn to move on. Lest you think CJ might be weak willed or weak minded, put your mind at ease. Nothing could be further from the truth. Tragedy hits us all very differently and for some hiding or denial is a defense mechanism that is quite uncontrollable. For CJ it wasn’t a case of wanting to give up totally and hide away, but rather not knowing how to move forward. Being stuck at home puts the agoraphobic in rather a catch 22. You need help, but how do you get out and get help when the problem you are dealing with is the ability to leave in the first place? Thank heaven for a hot and steamy billionaire that comes to the rescue in CJ’s case. With an endless stream of money, the right therapists and health insurance things can work out, at least on the therapy end of things. The relationship, on the other hand, is another matter altogether. Asher Sloane is a high-powered billionaire in the arena of providing alternative energy sources around the globe. From all outward appearances, he is a very altruistic individual, something CJ admires greatly. Asher also has a dilemma… what to do with a stalker ex. His solution is to hire CJ to pose as his fiance, a potential win-win for both of them. The problem? As hot as these two tear up the sheets in their every interaction, Asher expects their relationship to be a ruse only… no emotions, no room for love. While one moment you are praising Asher for the help he is giving CJ and his awesomeness as a lover, the next you are cursing him for the very unfeeling approach he wants to take towards their relationship. It’s also pretty apparent this man has a past he’s hiding. For a photographer with a journalism background, that seems just a bit too much temptation. And here is where I will stop so as not to give away all the goodies. Suffice it to say, the sex is scorching. The story is very compelling and you really feel for CJ. Asher obviously comes to the conclusion that he’s in love with her but is it enough when his past comes to light? I will say that this one does not end on an HEA or an HFN. You are left with a bit of a cliffhanger and where you may have thought things were over, you can rest assured they aren’t. The series contains four books of which three are full length. The final in the series is a novella. I haven’t quite decided yet if I’ll pick up the next in the series. The writing is great. The erotic elements are awesome. The story is compelling. I find myself curious to see what has happened with CJ and if the two can get past Asher’s past. I’m honestly not sure what is causing my hesitance to pick up the next in the series. If I have to hazard a guess I would say it is the cliffhanger combined with my propensity to read PNR, SyFy, and the likes. ****Reviewed for Xtreme Delusions****

Characters are alterng from one chapter to the next. Not only can the characters not remain the same but even locations alter. An example: she lives in a walkup apartment in one chapter having to walk up four fights of stairs, the next she is riding her elevator down to the lobby. One chapter she states the idea of a realationship terrifies her, then a chapter so later she freaking out because he said a true relationship is not possible.. i know she is supose to be a little crazy and unstable but this chick is total a nut job. An ediitor would have caught these errors, but I don't think anyone could have saved this story. Its not good.

I always enjoy reading romance books that feature a billionaire businessman and a heroine struggling to make ends meet, when there is a secret or some kind of tragedy involved so much the better, and we get all of that here in Exposure. I was drawn to this book because of it's premise, C.J is agoraphobic after a tragedy that has left her housebound for the last six months, quickly running out of money she knows she needs to get back to work, she decides to venture outside but doesn't make it far before it becomes too much and she loses consciousness, when she comes to she finds herself in a strange apartment that just so happens to belong to billionaire hottie Asher Sloane, the attraction and chemistry between the two is evident from the start, Asher having known someone who suffers the same phobia as C.J tries to help out as much as he can.  While C.J is fast developing feelings for Asher and believes that theirs is the beginning of a new relationship, Asher makes a proposition to C.J to pretend to be his fiancee to be rid of his stalker ex-girlfriend, in return he'll give her $100,000, also letting her know that he is incapable of falling in love with anybody and she shouldn't expect anything more, C.J is insulted and refuses to have anything to do with Asher, but when she is in dire need of money she has no choice but to agree, it's not too long though before they both start falling in love with each other even Asher who swore that would never happen, but when a secret that Asher has been hiding comes to light will this be the end of their relationship? With a shock of an ending that will leave you desperately wanting and needing the next book, this is one series that you'll have trouble putting down, full of suspense, drama, mystery and some really hot love scenes to boot this story will be sure to keep you on your toes. Anie has written a  great start to a new series, that is sure to entertain and keep you enthralled from the get go.
