Overview

Extinction War by Nicholas Sansbury Smith

The seventh and never-before-published book in USA Today bestselling Nicholas Sansbury Smith's propulsive post-apocalyptic series about one man's mission to save the world.

An army advances...

In Europe, Master Sergeant Joe Fitzpatrick and Team Ghost return from a mission deep into enemy territory only to find that the Variant army has grown stronger, and they are advancing toward the EUF's stronghold in Paris.

On the brink of Civil War...

Back in the United States, President Ringgold and Dr. Kate Lovato are on the run. The Safe Zone Territories continue to rally behind the ROT flag, leaving Ringgold more enemies than allies. But there are still those who will stand and fight for America. Captain Rachel Davis and Captain Reed Beckham will risk everything to defeat ROT and save the country from collapsing into Civil War.

Humanity may be its own worst enemy... pick up the series that D. J. Molles said "delivers unrelenting, unmerciful action" before it's too late!

I don't know what to say about this book to do this justice!!! It was phenomenal. Everything I wanted and more. It's all out war, both with the Variants and ROT! The battle for Europe is still going strong and Fitz and Apollo are knee deep in it. The Variants there are bigger, badder and harder to destroy than what they had in America, and it's all Fitz can do to keep Team Ghost alive. Meanwhile, in America, Beckham is battered and bruised but still fighting, well just about!! Horn is trying to keep Kate safe, President Ringgold is trying to hold onto her country, safe zones are allying with ROT and things look grim, especially with the Hemorrhage Virus being used against them, but nobody will go out without a fight!!! This book just about broke me!! I was on the edge of my seat throughout and had such a hard time putting it down, but I also didn't want to keep reading because that meant that the series would end!! I wanted to devour it, but I didn't, I took my time reading it and just immersed myself in the War. I felt everything these characters felt, I cried with them and I laughed with them. I gasped, I was tense and I was terrified for them, I was completely captivated by these characters and their journeys. I'm sad to see it end, but also happy with the way it ended!! Not all the characters made it, and those that did were changed completely, but that's what makes it so good, so real!! That's what gives this series it's heart... the amazingly written characters! The plot of this was extremely fast paced and intense!! Right from the start, we are thrown into the action of fighting the enemy, both in Europe and America. And boy does it get tense!! So many times had me gasping and going, no, no, no, NOOOO!! Then there were times where I was biting my nails and waiting to see what would happen next, and what happened next would break my heart, but other times would leave me smiling and going, yes!!!! It was an emotional rollercoaster, but so, so worth it! I want to talk about Piero, but I can't, I want to talk about Davis, but I can't, I wan't to talk about Beckham, but I can't!! There is so much I want to say, but I can't because it will spoil things. In all, this book was phenomenal. As I said already, it was all I wanted and more! It even surpassed what I was expecting!! It was action packed, intense, an edge of your seat ride, emotional, and absolutely brilliant!! My heart has been captured by these characters and I do hope we see more from them, but if the author feels that their story has come to an end, then I'm ok with that!! Horn, Beckham and Fitz have come a long way and deserve a break ;) Seriously guys, there are very, very few books that I recommend as passionately as I do this series. Go give them a go, you won't be sorry!!! I received an advanced copy of this, but have also pre-ordered the audio and paperback!! It will remain firmly on my favourite shelves. (less)

Nicholas a Sansbury Smith can certainly take you on a journey. Extinction War is supposed to be his final one in this series, but I certainly hope that’s not the case. Beckham, Lovato, Fitz are characters that come alive for the reader. Just to name a few. The war against the Variants is ongoing and these creatures are evolving faster than any can imagine. On our home soil the President is having to battle her own citizens who have their own agenda. Will the fighting ever end??Find out in the action packed read. You won’t be disappointed.

Extinction War is the seventh book in the Extinction Cycle Series. One of the characters that the book focuses on is Master Sargent Joe Fitzpatrick, the new leader of Team Ghost. Team Ghost is a special forces team that has been fighting the devastating effects of a bio weapon created by the US Government by combining a super solder serum with the Ebola virus. As the weapon quickly spreads around the world it turns the victims into mindless cannibalistic monsters. This is the story of how MSG Fitz (Fitzpatrick) is trying to help the United States allies combat the virus. Then we also have Reed Beckham and Dr. Kate Lavato who thought that the war was over in the U.S. They were wrong as a mad man who is related to the original creator of the bio weapon tries to take over the United States by force. This book is another home-run by Nicholas Sansbury Smith. Throughout the series Nick has created awesome characters that we can all relate to. A story that, in my opinion, is not that far-fetched and he even backs up his story with some science. Extinction War keeps you on the edge of your seat, keeps you reading no matter how much you want to put the book down. This story easily earned a five stars from me. I highly recommend this series to anyone who likes The Tide series by Anthony J. Melchiorri or even likes a different take on the zombie apocalypse.

Buckle up! Yeehawwwwww, what a ride!! Mr. Smith does it again! (not that we expected anything different from what we've come to expect from him) Edge of your seat, spellbinding, cross your fingers, reading with one eye open action! Catch your favorite rollercoaster ride today! I'm really hoping that Mr. Smith will see his way clear to writing a 5 years later book so we don't have to quite let these characters go yet. Congratz on an awesome series!

Wow! Loved the book. This series is my favorite one out of all of Nicholas Sansbury Smith’s books. And he never disappoints. Excellent story. I loved every minute of it. Very exciting and a such a roller coaster ride. I totally recommend the book. I also have the audio book of this one so I could read while my hands were busy working, great audio book with a great narration. Which I was very pleased with. The narrator used accents and emotion in the reading, which made the book even more exciting.

Finally, this series comes to an end. I'm sure it could have continued with a few more stories about the final push to take over Europe, Rome, etc., and rebuild the US., but so many good people (characters) died, I feel it was time to end the tale. The only complaint I have about the series was that I got a little tired of all the military lingo and some of the characters were just left hanging at the end; would have liked to find out what finally happened to a couple of them.

I have read some incredibly good books. I have loved some incredibly good series of books. The whole Extinction series of books is so beyond “good”. But book 7 War, is the BEST. By far this book had my heart pounding NONSTOP. I couldn’t stop reading this. Literally every single second, if I could just read a few lines I did it. And even now at the end, I am flipping back to the beginning to read again. The things that make a series great are all captured in this. There is believability as well as suspension of disbelief. The characters truly are like family now. We’ve fought, bled, loved with them all. The terrors in this are both fantastical and even some real. By far and large the greatest book right up there with my very cherished series. A MUST read.

Of all the books in the Extinction Cycle series, this story was hands-down the most stressful for me to read in terms of its unrelenting suspense. Fierce battles are being waged. Humans are on the ragged edge in this fight for survival against the evolving Variants AND a power hungry human psychopath. From prologue to epilogue, Extinction War is a brilliantly crafted, 5 star page-turner. It is also not a book you want to start near the end of your day. Highly recommended!
