Monsters, Paramedics, and Street Medicine.
New paramedic Dean Flynn is fresh out of the academy. When he gets assigned to the unknown backwater ambulance Station U, he wonders what he did wrong. Then Dean learns that his patients aren't your normal 911 callers.
Dean and his partner Brynne Garvey serve the creatures of myth and legend living alongside their normal human neighbors in Elk City. With patients that are vampires, werewolves, fairies and more, will Dean survive his first days on the new job? Will his patients?
Not all is well on the streets of Elk City either, and some humans are striking out at their mythical neighbors. Dean soon finds himself in the middle of a series of attacks on his patients, attacks that implicate a former member of Station U.

The plot has promise but the characters are one dimensional and the storytelling is lackluster. Too much attention to emergency medicine technical details and too little attention to character development.
Every now and then I find a writer who will drag me along by the eyelashes through the books. Jamie Davis is one such. Unit U of the EMT service of this town deals with medical emergencies in the Unusual population: vampires, zombies, fae of various types. The medical details felt believable, and it wasn't until I'd read all three books in the compendium volume that I got to the author-biography and found that Mr. Davis is a former EMT and now an EMT-educator. I quickly came to care What Happened Next to Dean Flynn and his colleagues at Unit U, and that kept me buying the rest of the books in the series, and has me hoping that Mr. Davis has more story-arc hatching about Dean.
There are a few errors or things you have to take on faith but overall a good way to spend a few hours.
Pretty good read. A little sappy at time. Plan on getting the nezt boo
