Love the idea of the book but didn't like that the books just ended without any resolution. Lots of leading insights to characters yet you only feel like you know Dean the main character. Medical terms and usage is spot on. Guess I would have liked more clear insight on characters. Still overall this is a series I want to continue reading

Where do vampires and werewolves turn in medical emergencies? Unit U! Only the best, most creative-thinking, most level-headed EMTs in Elk City are invited to take on the challenges of Unit U. Armed with every tool imaginable, from defibrillators to extract of garlic, these pros adapt their human training to save lives (and somtimes deaths) of the Unusuals living among us. Davis weaves his extensive medical and emergency care knowledge with a sensitivity for controversies and challenges affecting EMS workers and a healthy dose of fantastic and fascinating situations and characters. The result is the first book in a series that will delight both the medically trained and us mere mortals!

This book grabs you up and takes into the life of a Paramedics world with a paranormal twist . I loved it!

I thought this was a fun story. I like how the Unusual were portrayed as regular people just trying to lead their lives. A good light read.

I like this series. Examining the paranormal from the perspective of a paramedic caring for them is interesting. Its obvious what this author's day job is. :) I think in this first book here he writes just a little too much obscure medical detail into it and it bogs the scenes down a little. He gets better with that in the second book, though. He does tend to belabor the point a bit, but not too bad. One important thing you need to know before buying is that this is written in a very serial style. It's not a stand-alone novel where the main conflict is resolved at the end and the next one has a new conflict. I'm starting the third book now and the bad guys still haven't been stopped. It's fine, but if you start you should be aware you're committing to buying several books, at least, if you want to finish the whole story. It's like he's writing one big long story, but publishing it in 190-odd page installments. Overall, I like it and I'm still reading the series. I think it's pretty good.

A great read with plenty of action and excitement with a mystery to keep you on your toes. If you like vampires and a whole slew of supernatural this book will have you reading all night.

Enjoyed the story and will read the next one at times felt like i was reading a script, having a medical background some scene descriptions not needed, but undestand when finding the author was a nurse Proof reader missed some errors

Well I gotta say I was disappointed. I read the intro book dealing with Brynne and James first. Really enjoyed it. This book is about a whole different character who is not a strong personality. I don't like who Brynne nor James have become in this novel. Also it is way heavy on the technology of the medical treatments which while interesting wasn't plot moving. Probably done with the series. Not going where I thoght it would, menacing not fun.

Found this story courtesy of a 'Discount' Book Club; I liked it the story and as a result, I've bought more of her books. The author appears knowledgeable of the medical part of the story and imaginative when it comes to the 'supernatural' aspects... She has asked for 'reviews' and I am happy to oblige. I encourage those with a desire to look in to the 'unusual' to try one...
