About the Author
David Stansfield is an Arabic scholar, who has lived and worked in many parts of the Middle East. He graduated from Durham University with First Class Honors (summa cum laude) in Arabic Studies, and continued studying the language and the culture at the universities of Cambridge, Paris and Toronto, whereupon he was recruited by MI6, the British equivalent of the CIA.
David later went on to write and produce the 14-part TVOntario/Encyclopedia Britannica television series: "The Middle East," which was selected for consideration for an Academy Award in the best educational documentary category.
