When I first got this book, I couldn't put it down. I'm only thirteen, but I'd recommend this book to all ages! Captivating illistrations, rivating stories, and dazzling, humorous, advice and characters

Here is a book about faeries that does not sugar-coat their mischievous nature or coddle little children's naive beliefs that the fey are sweet winged versions of themselves. With brilliant illustrations portraying the malice as well as the beauty, this book is a must read for any young child, or adult with an appetite for different realms and a desire to indulge. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has ever loved the fey- in any form and invite them to experience these creatures in all varieties.

The only reason that I am writing a review about this book is to announce in a public forum just how much this book influenced and inspired me since childhood. I am an artist that has always been drawn to the mythical and fantastical, and Froud stoked my fires at an early age; inspiring me to copy his images and eventually draw my own faeries and mythical creatures. From his art I began to explore not only other artists, but fantasy writers and film makers (his work with Jim Henson on the Dark Crystal, The Labyrinth and the Story Teller Series equally effected me). Hands down one of the most influential artists in my life. This book (along with his lesser known "Gnomes" and "Giants") started it all for me.

This was not only enchanting, but delightful as well. The illustrations are lovely. The author made it an identification book of sorts, not only defining various sprites, but also including tales from many parts of the British isles of faerie. A lovely and imaginative book.

Brian Froud and Alan Lee's Faeries was perhaps the first book I ever read about faerie folk, and I've still yet to find anything that surpasses it. The illustrations are beautiful, and their arrangement---as though they're part of a faerie scrapbook or field guide---only adds to the richness of the reading experience. The book covers just about every aspect of Faerie that you could ever want to know, including the Seelie and Unseelie Courts, the King and Queen of Faerie, faerie trees and flora, protection against faerie magic, common faerie folk such as pixies, leprechauns, and merfolk, faerie abodes and realms, and lesser-known faeries like the Fachan, Kelpie, and Redcap.

Wow this book is amazing. There were so many faeries to read about and the pictures were absolutely beautiful. It contained a great variety of faeries too -- from the classic pixies to the beautiful Undine. It's a really good book for inspiration and I have used some of the faeries I read about in there in some of my writing and have even tried drawing some of them. If you want to learn more about faeries or simply like to see good art, then I'd definitely recommend this book! It's one of my favorites and I'm still going back and re-visiting it time and time again!

I found this book because of a friend, and i am very glad indeed. I am an artist, my main subjects are those of the imagination and to some, reality. I learned many things from the information stored within, and the art is done beautifullY!

Wonderful illustrations of faeries, water witches and other mystical creatures. Includes actual faerie tales about each faerie and nymph, a must have for anyone interested in the mythical world or who appreciates good storytelling and beautiful artwork. Amazing artistry, and design. Five stars is not enough for this masterpiece of legends. Also includes many great prints for tattoo design and general art work
