Sawyer North's Fair Weather Enemies is a fabulous historical romance debut. I love historical fiction, but I have to say Regency Era can be a hit or miss for me and not my favorite. This one is definitely a hit. Mr North has written a delightfully fun romance. Within the first couple of chapters, I was hooked and did not want to put the book down. I enjoyed Adam and Jane's story. I loved the humor in some of the scenes. I am giving Fair Weather Enemies a very well deserved five plus stars. I can not wait to read more books by this author. I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.

London 1816 As Jane and her aunt Hester were walking to the office of Mr Rutledge, when she saw Him. "Jane stared daggers at the familiar man emerging from a carriage not ten steps ahead. Adam Ashford. The mortal enemy. The fountain of all ills." But the money lender was calling in a debt he held for both of them and their estates. He would take Ashford's estate and Jane would go to debtor prison. What? Fortunately as they talked they both remembered some lost gold and letters that all came together.. So they compromised with Mr Rutledge to give them time to find the treasure. I have to say the witty dialogue pulled me in right from the beginning and made me laugh out loud. As their journey began to find the gold, it really was an adventure and kept my interest until the end. A great first book for this author in this genre'! Lori D

Jane and Adam are lifetime enemies stemming from a feud that goes back 70 yrs. When they both end up at their creditors at the same time, they can't imagine why. The man they both own money to had called in their debts, but neither can pay what is needed. The feud started with the disappearance of money, if they could only find it, their problems might be solved. What neither knew, was that they each held a key to finding the missing money. If they can let their animosity go and work together, they might be able to save themselves. But the terms of their lender mean that the money can only save one of them. Who will be saved and who will be left in ruin? I enjoyed this story but it took a little while to warm up to. But once I did, I really enjoyed it. The riddle of the letters that both Jane and Adam had, intrigued me and kept me wondering where the story would lead. Throughout the story our H/H retell things that they did to one another as the hated enemy and they are quite comical. There is a part in the story where they are sharing math puns that had me laughing out loud (the math teacher in my really enjoyed that!) This book is what I would call a sweet romance, they only kissed once and relations were not even spoke about.
