About the Author

Dan and his wife Joy have been actively involved in family ministries for many years and are the parents of three adult children. Dan is Bishop of the Louisiana area of The United Methodist Church and former Bishop of the Oklahoma Area. He has served as District Superintendent and pastor of five churches in Texas. They live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Debra conducts Christian education ministry workshops and writes teaching and study resources for use by churches. She is a United Methodist pastor serving in North Dakota.

MaryJane Pierce Norton is first and foremost a parent of a confirmand and a leader of Claim the Name confirmation studies. MaryJane is the author of numerous books and teaching resources, including Pocketsful of Scripture, and Teaching Young Children. She is also nationally known as a workshop leader and consultant in The United Methodist Church and is an ordained deacon in the Western North Carolina Conference. She and her husband have three children and live in Nashville, Tennessee.

Joy Solomon and her husband have been actively involved in family ministries for many years and are the parents of three adult children. An accomplished musician, Joy has been an elementary school teacher, a volunteer in literacy and chemical dependency programs, and a leader of spiritual growth and women's studies. They live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
