Great book. Changed my life
"Faithing It: Bringing Purpose Back to Your Life" by author Cora Jakes-Coleman is a 208 page hardback book packed full of encouragement. Author Cora is the daughter of evangelist T.D. Jakes, who has written the forward for this powerful faith inspiring book. After starting this book, I realized that for me I needed a bible pen to underline key points. Then after reading a little longer I needed a tissue because I was really moved and got teary. A little later I settled in with a cup of tea. This is a wonderful book and definitely hard to put down. It uses God's Word, real life experiences, and some tough love to get her message to readers that we should have faith and not just act like we do. We need to persevere and not quit. We need to trust God and not try to handle things without Him. She shows us that God makes good out of bad. Everything can be a lesson for us, especially the bad times, This book was a delight. I would recommend it to anyone that needs a boost in their faith, is going through a difficult time now, or struggling with God. This book will help. At the end of each chapter is a moving prayer. Don't skip over it. Throughout the chapter will be inspiration and encouragement that you will want to refer back to many times. I rated this a 5 out of 5 stars. I loved it. Don't miss it! A copy of this book was provided for my honest review from The Book Club Network.
Her father, high-profile preacher J.D. Jakes, describes the book this way in his foreword: “If you have ever faced a challenge for which your circumstances made you wonder if you could survive, this book is for you. If you have a faith that needs to be managed, massaged, or has been maligned by disappointing news and bleak conditions that defied human rectification, here’s the answer coming through the pages ahead.” Certainly these are the biased words of a proud papa, but I found them to be an accurate indicator of what was to be found in Cora Jakes-Coleman’s inspirational book. She explains what “faithing it” means. It means to choose to fight against the heartaches and obstacles in our lives and whatever would hinder the purpose and the promises of God. She says, “You cannot get to great purpose, promise, and legacy without great tribulation, but you can trust that everything works together for good in God’s timing.” She encourages the reader to trust that all is in God’s hands. She writes as one struggle to another, encouraging the reader to persevere in faith in the love and power of God. I received this book through the Bookclub Network in exchange for this my honest review.
This book was a delight to read. We all know about the times of struggle and difficulties, and know that we will get through them. This book shows you how to get through these rough times with faith in the process and looking to the end result. Cora states, “when you delight in God and your relationship with Him, then nothing can stop you. If fact, blessings will overtake you, the light will shine on you, and all will work out according to God’s perfect will.” Each chapter of this book ends with a heartfelt prayer for the person reading the book. As I carefully and prayerfully read each one, I could feel my heart stirring. This book continually points you to God, showing Him walking along side us as we go through the process, and helping us to grow in our relationship with Him. There are just so many great thoughts shared by Cora, that I will be reading this book again and again. I would recommend that anyone, regardless of how you handle difficulties, read this book. I received this book free from The Book Club Network in exchange for an honest opinion.

Faithing It – Bringing Purpose Back To Your Life By: Cora Jakes Coleman Destiny Image Publishers, Inc., P. O. Blake, firstname.lastname@example.org Growing Up in a Family Fishbowl of World Renowned Ministry Leader Cora Jakes Coleman tells her inspiring story in, “Faithing It – Bringing Purpose Back to Your Life.” It is a story of spiritual and personal growth in the midst of physical pain and emotional upheaval; a testimony of an ashes to beauty spiritual journey. Coleman draws from her experiences and those of friends as examples to help the reader identify and relate to the “storms of life” they face. She goes on to offer important practical reminders for meeting each problem, head on, by claiming the promises of God for strength, comfort, and guidance. She weaves a theme of rediscovering purpose, order, and balance to uncover anything hindering our God given dream, single-mindedness, influence, and potential. I enjoyed Coleman’s natural conversational style of communication to draw attention to scriptural tenets and her own personal insights on the process of recognizing our weaknesses to focus on finding our identity with Christ, allowing him to put purpose back into our life; with the goal of becoming world changers for Him. A reader friendly format, a series of group leader outlines, and the inspiring prayers at the end of each chapter insure the reader of: and increase in faith, and an impact on ministry which encourage an honest self-appraisal and a personal quest for finding our divine purpose. Faithing It by Ms. Coleman intrigued me from the first chapter. She spoke straight to my heart. This was not a book to rush through. I loved her personal illustrations throughout. It had meat that I wanted to chew on slowly. This is definitely a book I will be discussing with friends and keeping on my shelf for more reading pleasure. I received this book for free from The Book Club Network and the author in exchange for my honest review.
This powerful book takes the reader through the process from pain and centering on one’s self to the achievement of a dream through God’s power. It brings to life the verse in Psalms where God says that He will give the desires of our hearts. This author speaks from experience and from her heart. She identifies with her readers as she makes herself vulnerable by revealing the depth of pain and anguish from her own grief. Then she proceeds to show how through “faithing it,” she now walks a victorious life in Christ. The author’s premise is to teach the reader how to fight with faith to overcome the past and realize his/her dream. The key is that it’s a covenant relationship with God, one where there is no room for individual pride. I appreciated that all thoughts throughout the process centered on God’s Word and the examples were taken from God’s Word. I recommend this book to people in every stage of the Christian walk. There is much to glean for each reader.
Disclaimer: I did receive an advanced copy, but it was not in exchange for a positive review so everything that I am going to outline is my opinion. I recommend this book for many reasons, the most important being the more times there is a clarion call to return to faith the more equipped we are to finish the journey we are called to. I walk away reminded that faith is not a moment, it is an ever evolving ever-growing process by which we cultivate our minds and spirits to be more like the God we follow. That submission to His will and waiting for His guidance is part of a process that was not designed to destroy us but to strengthen us. Faith is both the key and the doorway through which we walk toward power and destiny. Along this journey there are small directional signs that let us know that we’re headed in the right direction, despite how lost we may feel, and I believe that Faithing It by Cora Jakes Coleman is one of those directional signs to let us know that the promise is still ours and that by facing it there will be a win
