My dad passed away June 20th 2009 and the preacher read this book at his funeral. My dad was not a religious man but believed in GOD, he was one who would prefer sit on a park bench rather than a church pew. My dad loved nature and just being outdoors and watching the leaves change throughout the seasons. There were alot of children at his funeral my 9yrs old niece was one of them, this book just kept their attention and you could tell they were feeling the the emotions of "Freddie" as the preacher read on. This book helped make the funeral more lighter and easier to handle durning such a dark and sad time. I would recommend this book for all ages, and those who are going through grief and lose.

This precious little book is a great way to help children understand and deal with the loss of a loved one. It takes a real life simile to give them hope and reasoning. Great idea from Buscaglia!

Beautifully written and illustrated this book is a great aid in helping children to understand and cope with the loss of a family member or friend. Freddie and his friends explain the circle of life and rebirth. A must for any family to own and share.

While I was shopping with a friend I was telling her about my 4 year old grandson who was talking about death and asking questions about heaven. I mentioned how difficult it is, sometimes, to tell someone so young about people close to us dying. She recommended this book, which I in turn gave to my daughter-in-law.

When my daughter started questioning the concept of death as a child, about 30 years ago, I bought, and read her this book. When she called me a few weeks ago stating her son is questioning this same concept, I sent her this book. She called crying, saying the book is more beautiful than she remembered. As an RN, she said she is going to read this book to some of her end of life patients. This is a book to be celebrated, and enjoyed at anytime by all ages of people.

This book is waaaay above the heads of most young children. I do not think that it should be marketted as a children's book.

My mom first read this to me when my pop-pop passed away in 1986. Since then, I have purchased it for others to read to their children while coping with a death in the family. It is a great story that touches on the topic of death while making it understandable for every child. It makes this difficult subject easier to speak about. I highly recommend this book!

I work in hospice. Daily, I am with the those who have been diagnosed with a terminal illness and their loved ones. While this book is a phenominal tool for working with children in the bereavement process, it really is a book that you cannot outgrow. I frequently use the book in working with adults, as well as, sharing with my colleagues who need to be reminded of life's big picture.

This book is perfect for sharing those with significant losses. My husband & I gave it to our five sons the Christmas before he died. They have shared it with many others as have I. It is esoecially helpful to children as they can understand the concept.
