Falling For His Best Friend by Katee Robert

A sexy category romance from Entangled's Brazen imprint...

He's going above and beyond the call of duty...

Avery Yeung's biological clock just went off early. Thanks to her family's medical history, she's running out of time to get knocked up. And the only guy within donating distance? Her overprotective-and irritatingly hot-best friend. So clearly she needs an anonymous donor...

Anonymous donor? Over Sheriff Drew Flannery's dead body. While daddyhood will never be in the cards for a man with his past, Drew won't let Avery shop for a "popsicle pop." He'll do what's right for his best friend by doing his best friend. But only if they do it properly.

But there's nothing "proper" about it. Between the bed, the kitchen counter, and against his squad car, Avery and Drew are having the hottest sex ever. They can't get enough of it-or each other. And without knowing it, they've crossed the one line that could ruin their friendship forever...

Avery and Drew are the very best of friends who hide their attraction for one another out of fear of losing that friendship. Of course when Avery decides that she is going to have a baby via IVF, Drew can't stand the thought of her having another man's child. As they work on having a baby, their relationship gets complicated by their feelings for each other as well as her grandparents' expectations of her. It's an emotional as well as fun and sexy read. Can't wait until we get Avery's sister Alexis' story, she definitely deserves a HEA. Recommended to fans of friends to lovers romance. ARC via NetGalley

Hot love story with twist and turns with the ultimate ending. My question is after all the hype of having a baby the story ends with out knowing she has the baby and knowing about her health!

Avery wanted to have a baby. Her biological clock just went on alarm earlier than expected. Her family’s medical history suggests that if she wanted to have a baby, she needs to do it now before it’s too late. Now her overprotective and hot best friend was volunteering to be her donor. There was no way Drew Flannery would never allow his best friend Avery to have an anonymous donor. He might not be ready to become a father, not to mention he did not have the “model dad” growing up, but there’s no stopping him in doing what’s best for Avery. Only if they did it the natural way. Will it mean they’d be crossing that line? Or it’s just sex after all? These two have that bond they shared since childhood. They have been through tough times individually, and have been there for each other. The sex might be explosive and orgasmic regardless of the place, but the real question is would it be enough to start a relationship? When the doubt sets in and the past came to haunt, will they be able to survive it? Falling in love with your best friend could be the best thing that could happened to you – but first, someone has to take that risk. I love the relationship that they have, and how they took care of each other. I can understand the predicament Drew was in, although I was really thankful that his younger brother came to the rescue and knock some senses into her. Romantic, steamy and a great short read. It’s a classic tale that never gets old.

I’m a big fan of the friends to lovers trope, and Katee Roberts delivered that and much more in this story. Not only has she woven in a history between Avery and Drew that is so believable and real that you can feel the connection between the two, she has also brought Avery’s medical issues and her family’s biases into play which added additional depth and realness to the story. It was so much fun watching Avery and Drew cross the line from friends to lovers. Their chemistry was explosive, and once they cross that line you can tell once will never be enough for either of them. It was also frustrating watching them both struggle with taking that step, and even though I understood some of Drew’s reservations, I still wanted to shake him a bit and tell him to follow his heart. The secondary characters were great. Catching up with Bri and Ryan was fun and I especially loved Avery’s sister Alexis and can’t wait to see where her story takes us.  This was a quick read that had a great balance between the steam and the story. The characters were relatable ,the plot was believable, and this is one I would definitely recommend! I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Avery Yueng is ready for a baby no matter how crazy it sounds. As her 28th birthday drifts closer to her she realizes if she wants to be a mother, now is the time. Just a few short years away from 28, Avery wants to have a baby while the dream is still possible. The first thing on her list is to pick a suitable donor for her baby. Sheriff Drew Flannery is Avery's best friend and has always been wildly attractive to her, but never crossed the line since he knew he wouldn't be the man who was able to give her a happy ending and her friendship was more important than losing her. When Avery announces her baby making plans he knows that there is no way he can let Avery choose an unknown donor especially when he can help her.  As Avery and Drew cross over the line and the boundary between friends and lovers finds itself on shaky ground, will Avery and Drew's friendship be able to survive the fire or will this permanently ruin the friendships they've had for as long as they can remember? Falling for His Best Friend is sexy and steamy. Full of romance, friendship, and baby making, Falling for His Best Friend is the perfect read for a lazy day, because once you read the first page, you will not be able to put this book down. Katee Robert's characters Avery and Drew are so realistic and down to earth with this connection that screams 'PERFECT FOR EACH OTHER'. Drew is your rugged manly man while Avery is a girl who isn't afraid to have a guy best friend and would rather be dressed in jeans and a t-shirt, playing Mario Kart. I love their personalities and their friendship.  While their friendship is obviously treasured, I enjoyed seeing the two make the transition into more while pretending it was all for the sake of making a baby. In each other they find not only a best friend but a lover.  I honestly could go on all day about my love for this book, but I will just leave it with this... Falling for His Best Friend is FIVE 'FALLING-IN-LOVE' STARS!

Avery and Drew have been best friend's forever. They have seen each other through thick and thin. Now a test of their friendship is cooking. Avery wants to have a baby before she has to have the same surgery done as her mother and sister. Drew as expected is none too happy with the news especially when he thinks she is going to find some random man to fulfill her wish. Drew knows there is no other way then for him to be the baby daddy. Can Avery and Drew still remain best friends through all of this? The chemistry between the two is burning hot. What happens once feelings start to develop? Will it put strain on them? Add in Avery's very traditional grandparents throws another kink into their plans. Will Drew get over his father's past in order to have a future with Avery?

I really like this series, or maybe I just really like the characters. This is the story of Drew & Avery, the two who are "just best friends" through the other stories. You could see it in the other books & wonder when that would finally happen. Drew is the town sheriff and Avery owns her own business, an antique store. Her family is Chinese but her mother was American, so this is the pivot point for her issues. Drew comes from a family where his mother died when he was 5 & his brother was 3. His father turned into an alcoholic because he couldn't deal with his wife's death. Drew was the person who took care of his brother & looked after their father when he was drunk. Drew & Avery have been best friends from early childhood & both secretly love each other although they deny it because Avery has always known she had to marry an Asian man to satisfy her grandparents. The story is built on the friendship that has resulted from their unfortunate childhoods. Avery is under a lot of pressure because her mother died from cancer , her sister had to have a hysterectomy for the same reason, & Avery is left with being the only one to have. A child to carry on the bloodline (with an Asian man of course, anyone else is unacceptable). When Avery breaks the news that she's decided to have a baby because she can't wait any longer for Mr. Right to show up, Drew has a melt down. The story proceeds from there on and what a story it is! There were times when I wanted to jump in the book & slap Drew silly. Thankfully Ms Roberts writes some sense into him and it turns around. Underneath it all Drew has the characteristics of my dream man (sigh). If you like romance you will love this book. This is a standalone book but it helps to know the background so I encourage you to read the first two books, they were also very good. Now if we can a happy ending for Avery's sister...the ending of this story could very well be the prequel to her story. Here's hoping!

I received this book from Barclay Publicity / NetGalley in return for a fair and honest review. If there's one trope that I can't abide, it's insta-love, and this book is about as far from that as you can get. Avery and Drew have been friends since childhood and have only ever been friends. All that changes when Avery announces she's going to have a baby. I won't go into more detail than that because that's what the synopsis is for. What I can tell you is that this book is a corker! It's hot, it's funny, it's sad, it's poignant AND it's very well-written with believable characters, whether you like them or not. I really hope that there will be another book in this series that gives us Avery's sister's story. Alexis has her own heartache to deal with and I really hope she gets her HEA. Thoroughly enjoyable contemporary romance that I would have no hesitation in recommending.

I read the first book in the series a few months ago. I didn’t really love nor did I hate it. It was the same with this book. I was really excited for Avery and Drew’s book. After what they did in the first book, well I thought that these two were a pretty perfect couple. Now I’m not saying that I didn’t like the book, because I did. I was just expecting for me to like it more after reading book one and reading the synopsis for this book. It had a few hot scenes, but I need more from the characters. I love that you get to see the previous couple in the book. And after reading this book, I’m really excited to read the next book in the series, which is Avery’s sister Alexis. One thing that I did not like was towards the end of the book. The reason Drew breaks up their little deal. I personal thought it was stupid. You know if there is something wrong with the parents then there is 99.9% chance that the characters are going to use that excuse. Well Drew did. And I didn’t like it. This is a quick hot read about best friends to lovers. If you’re into that sort of thing give this book a try. I’m really excited for Alexis’s book. Happy Reading!

Avery Yeung doesn't have time to go through the whole process --- find a man, fall in love, get pregnant --- the way it usually happens. Two close relatives have been visited by cancer, and her doctor tells her she could be next on the list. Before that can happen, she wants a baby of her own. But where do you go for support when you're planning to be a single parent and your family is so traditional they'll probably shun you for the rest of your life if you go ahead with your plans? Simple. Avery turns to her best friend ... who just happens to be a guy. Drew Flannery, sheriff, has been Avery's friend since childhood. There's always been attraction, but neither has ever made a move, content to keep their friendship platonic. Now, though, with Avery threatening to get herself knocked up with just any donor, Drew's seeing red, and determined to convince her that it would be better if she actually knew the baby's father. But it could take a lot of convincing on his part ...  Entangled Publishing's Brazen imprint presents the erotic romance FALLING FOR HIS BEST FRIEND by New York Times bestselling author Katee Robert. (Check out my review of Robert's novel Protecting Fate here.) The beauty of this story is in its plausibility. Who among us hasn't been shaken by a brush with cancer, whether personally or vicariously through a loved one? Who hasn't felt the desperation that comes when we sense that time might be running out and we still haven't achieved a cherished life goal ... and aren't sure we'll be able to do so in time? Avery is a beautiful young woman, devoted to her family even when their pragmatic traditions clash with her desires, committed to her friendship with Drew, willing to take a huge risk to accomplish her goals. It's easy not only to cheer for her but also to empathize with her situation. For all her strength and pluck, she's also authentic and vulnerable, making her an even more likable heroine. Drew, for his part, manages to be both honorable and very, very bad, in a very good way. The sex between he and Avery reads as though they've been denying their mutual attraction for a long, long time, and now that they've turned on the faucet full strength, there's no turning back. Prepare for some of the hottest love scenes in a long while. Still, there's nothing devious about Drew's motives. He wants what's best for Avery, and to do everything possible not to jeopardize his friendship with her. Their easy interactions with one another, especially early in the book, read almost like a close brother-sister relationship, until they each finally decide to be honest about their attraction to the other. Nothing like a boiling hot romance to add to your collection! # # # Author: Katee Robert Title: FALLING FOR HIS BEST FRIEND Publisher: Entangled Publishing (Brazen) ISBN: 978-1-63375-274-0 Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this work from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest, though not necessarily positive, review. 4.5 star I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, pain, secrets, and heartbreak.  If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first In Bed with Mr. Wrong (Out of Uniform, #1) His to Keep (Out of Uniform, #1.5) This is Avery and Drew’s story. Avery is planning to have a baby but Drew is determined to be the father.  She is not just going to have anyone’s baby she will have his.  It will also not happen in a doctor’s office.  They will do it his way.  With all the sparks that are flying it should happen right away.  But with baby making comes a whole new set of feelings.  Are they ready for those feelings?  Are they willing to fight for a relationship?  Or is even the friendship going to be gone before it’s all said and done?   I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.  I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story from this author.

I totally enjoyed Avery and Drew’s story in Falling for His Best Friend. This book was funny, romantic and wicked hot!! I loved that they were friends first. These types of stories are so much more real than ‘I love you at first sight’ books. Avery knew what she wanted and wasn’t going to let anything get in her way of getting it. She’s a great match to Drew, even though she was kind of clueless for a hella long time. Drew is great. I about love him to death. I think their chemistry was off the hook and holy cow was it wicked hot!! I liked that I didn’t know that this was a book #2 in a series. Series are great, but even better when you don’t feel lost reading out of order. Great writing, easy to read and awesomely hot!! Fantastic to the author, keep up the great work :)

WOW! What a charming and stunning story about friends to lovers. When I first read the blurb about this book, I knew I would like it but once I read it, I loved it! Avery and Drew are phenomenally and perfectly matched. The fact that they've been friends for as long as time, they know all about each other's ways, likes, wishes. And once Avery dropped the bomb about wanting a baby, I loved how Drew took action and propositioned her. Their chemistry is electric and radiates off the pages. This was such a good book that I recommend it to anyone looking for a lovely story of love, friendship, loyalty and realizing sensual desires.

This is a story about a woman, Avery Yeung, whose mother died of cancer. Her sister had to have a complete hysterectomy because of cancer and now she has been diagnosed as having the same genetic marker for the that same cancer and they've all had it by the time they were 28 years old. She's 27. She decides to have a baby with a sperm donor before the choice is taken away from her.  The only problem is that her best friend since they were seven years old, Drew Flannery, wants to be the sperm donor and he wants to do it the old-fashioned way. Can the friendship withstand the whirlwind affair they're about to embark on for the sake of getting her pregnant? Fabulous story! These two friends have an amazing relationship. I found myself smiling constantly and sometimes laughing out loud at their crazy antics. Watching Avery sister try to be happy for her was heart-wrenching. Avery's grandparents are cruel and unfeeling. All they care about is extending the Yeung line and the proper role of a wife. It's a good thing her father supports her in whatever makes her happy. I love how this author can touch on the tragedy of cancer and at the same time show us the loving, sexy and very humorous relationship between the characters in this story, without lessening the impact of the disease. Bravo!  I can't wait to read more from this fantastic author. Received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

I received an ARC of Falling For His Best-Friend for an honest review. Avery has found out that she has the markings for cancer and when she turns twenty-eight she won’t be able to have children. Now she’s decided that if she wants to have her own baby she needs to take destiny into her own hands. She’s found a donor and plans on having a baby very soon. When her best friend Drew finds out Avery is planning on having a baby with a stranger, Drew decides to be Avery’s baby daddy. When sex becomes so much more Drew and Avery both come clean so they can have their happily ever after. I liked this book. Avery and Drew were adorable and realistic characters. Drew is afraid he’ll turn into his alcoholic dad if he loses Avery, and Avery is afraid that Drew’s past with women will make their relationship impossible. I really enjoyed the character growth and the sexy scenes that Katee Roberts always accepts at.  I cannot wait until the next book in this series.

What happens when your best friend is 1)of the opposite sex and totally hot, 2)knows all your secrets and fears, and 3)is the one person who makes you feel completely whole? Well in Falling for His Best Friend, Katee Robert shows us just what happens to Drew Flannery when he realizes that his best friend Avery Yeung is the answer to every question he’s ever had. What a great ride this story was for me! I always love Katee’s writing. Her stories are just real and grounded and they just make me feel good, and this new one is no exception! We first met Avery and Drew when they set up her friend Bri and Drew’s brother Ryan in the first Out of Uniform book, In Bed with Mr. Wrong; so if you’ve read it you know that the two of them are masters of coming up with a scheme. But their story is less about a scheme and more about what happens when two people that are the best at just being friends, find out they could be even better at being everything. Avery is wanting to have a baby before her chance to do so is taken from her, but when Drew discovers that she’s going to use a sperm donor he freaks because the idea of Avery having an anonymous man’s baby just doesn’t work for him. Avery is freaked both by his reaction and his offer, though initially she doesn’t realize he actually wants to go about it the old-fashioned way; which I admit was pretty funny. So when these two finally start down the path to ‘make a baby’ they are both rocked by how good the chemistry and the sex is between them. As much as they want to believe it’s ‘just sex’, both are having feelings and figuring out how good being together really feels. It’s also scary because Drew has demons and fears that are keeping him from fully going all in, and Avery is scared to let herself admit how she really feels because if they lose each other can either of them survive? I just enjoyed every minute of this read! It’s a good pace and a good balance of humor, sexy chemistry and heart. Great job Miss Katee!! Can’t wait for more! A copy was provided by the publisher in exchange for a review.

I had hoped these two would get together. This was a wonderful read from start to finish and a total page turner. As someone who has experienced the emotional roller coaster of probably not having children the subject matter hit close to home for me but it was dealt with in a wonderful manner. A definite must read especially for those who are Katee Robert fans.
