This book was okay. It dragged in some areas. Overall, it was an okay book. I would read more from this author.
Michelle Lynn grabbed me on page 1 and didn't let go until the last page. To me this was a real and honest look at what it's like to be the family/sibling/loved ones to someone that is addicted to drugs – someone who chooses to check out from life and no matter what you do, you can't pull them back. Adam and Leah meet in very unusual circumstances but they are kindred spirits in that they each have a sibling that is an addict which is what ultimately brings them together. Their capacity to love is immeasurable and you watch them struggle with their choices to help their siblings. Then Michelle Lynn adds Dani – surprise, they have a 3 year old niece that steals both of their hearts. I was completely drawn into this story and loved every crazy minute. The connection between Leah and Adam is wonderful and you totally understand their hesitation to act on how they feel – Dani. "Uncle Adam, your car roars." – how cute, Dani stole my heart too!
love, loss, family, forgiveness and Romance!! You will get it all in this book and it is a standalone! I love Michelle's writing and she did not disappoint in this novel either! It was a heart wrenching, love of not just between two people but love of family, love that shows forgiveness and strength. A love that never fails. A love that will last a lifetime. Michelle's story flowed, and was filled with angst and love. Things happen, tragedy strikes and lives are turned upside down. And you go on a journey as they try to pull themselves back together the best way they know how. It shows how people that truly love can get through anything! If you want to give Michelle's writing a try this would be the book to do it! It is a standalone and you get to see everything happen in one book! Thanks Michelle for another great story from you!!!! I am never disappointed!!<3
Wow! What a heart-wrenching and moving story. Emotions are all over the place. I think this was the first book that I’ve read about the main characters being directly affected by family with a drug addiction. It was hard to read about at some points but so worth it. The characters were well written and the story line drew me in. Adam and Leah have a connection that most don’t have. They not only have siblings addicted to drugs but also have lost someone close to them. They understand each other on a whole other level. Adam is patient and understanding. He’s sweet to Leah and adores his niece, Dani. Leah is so used to being in control and taking care of herself but easily takes Dani into her life. I really liked both of them and their personalities were wonderful. They complimented each other very well. The story flowed seamlessly and the scenes transitioned smoothly. I easily read this in one sitting. I just couldn’t put it down. It evoked a lot of emotion, some good and some not so good. I really enjoyed this book and found it very touching. I highly recommend reading it. 5 out of 5 stars!
