Reviewed by Susan Sewell for Readers' Favorite The marital struggles of a young couple become inconsequential when tragedy strikes in the poignant romance novel Family First (The Friessens Book 7) by Lorhainne Eckhart. After six months of newlywed bliss, eighteen-year-old Katy is happy and contented with her life. She is finally married to Steven, and they continue to live in the small town in which they grew up. She has the best of both worlds, her parents and siblings are still a significant part of her life, and Steven does everything he can to make her happy. However, when Steven loses his job and can't find another, the couple are confronted with an impasse. Even though Katy has put her foot down and refuses to move away from her family, Steven begins looking at job prospects in other towns. While Steven is job hunting, Katy is fired from her job and discovers that she is pregnant. The honeymoon is now over; the two must face adult decisions that threaten to wreck their marriage. Before Katy and Steven can fully get their feet back on the ground, another tragic event occurs, leaving Katy alone and reeling with grief. Does she have the courage and strength to make the life and death decisions that confront her? Family First (The Friessens Book 7) by Lorhainne Eckhart is a heartwrenching romance novel portraying the trials of teenage angst mixed with the reality of marriage. The agonizing growing pains of the young married couple wrings the heart, as the reader relates to Katy and Steven's struggles to preserve their love. The story takes the reader on an emotional roller coaster ride, completing the cycle with the joy of new life. It is an inspiring novel, infused with the love of family and the promise of a future. Due to some sexual content and language, I recommend this book to those over sixteen who enjoy the trials and tribulations of romance.

Typical story of kids who married too young, and didn't think about the real life ups and downs. First sign of trouble, they fall apart. Loved the book even though it was predictable. Ms Eckhart books continue to make me want to read more. Just purchased the next book in the series. Mjw
